Couple of weeks ago we had a snow storm, but nothing a 2003 Pilot with snow tires couldn't handle.
Driving in the right snow filled lane I moving along and the car up ahead, in the salted, clear left lane, looses control, side swipes me and sends me into an intersection with a new looking Mustang, and I hit my driver's side with his driver's side. Both of my airbags deployed, a very new experience with me. Luckily no one was hurt. I feel like I got punched in the face, but nothing big. He took out another car. Police said it was his fault, but they are not laying charges as it was due to bad weather. The Pilot doesn't look good and the body shop things it will be beyond the value to repair. I'm still waiting to hear back from the insurance company. The Pilot did its job, and there was a crumple behind the rad support on the left side. No engine or radiator damage. I started it to get it moved out of the way. It broke my heart to see the Pilot this way. I was hoping to get it up to 500,000km (300,000 miles). I am not driving a PT Cruiser for the loaner...(it ain't now Pilot). Rental guy said I can have a Jeep or Pilot sized vehicle if I wait. But I told him, just give me what you go.... So this maybe good bye Pilot....

Sorry to hear.
Glad all are OK. I am guessing with airbags deployed and crumples behind the radiator, it is totaled. How many miles did you have on it?

Ouch, sorry to hear that Sunday Rider, but glad everyone is OK and the Pilot did its job. Hopefully this will mean a new one for you!

I felt very safe in there. But when the air bag was deployed, it was the last thing on my mind. I thought thefront windshield had shattered. But there was no glass breaking at all.
I am not sure if I need a vehicle as big anymore. Boys are grown with their own cars (Hondas of course). Not sure what I am going to do.

Sunday Rider, I switched to a CR-V. Although I admit it took some getting used to the lighter car, I now really enjoy it, and am glad I made the change. It still has that Honda feel. The new CR-Vs have a more expansive front windshield view that matches what we were used to in the Pilots.

Thanks guys.
I always wanted to retire the old Pilot after it was worn and tired, but not this way. So many great trips and memories and the great time on this board. Will see what happens next. Appreciate the comments.

Glad to hear that everyone is ok. I experienced a similar accident ealier this year in a CRV. It had similar damage to what you are describing your pilot had. Hate to say it, but it is probably totaled

Sad to hear Sunday Rider, but main thing is everyone is OK.
My wife had a deer run into the side of ours about a year and half ago, no structural damage or air bags deployed, and the damage was $8500. I guess the good news is you get to go vehicle shopping.

I'd rather loose a Pilot than a Piloteer. So I'm glad you're ok.
Your collision sounds more serious than a 03 owning friend with 180k. He was t-boned 18 months ago and the car was repaired at a cost of over $8k US.

Thanks Guys.
I am beginning to think it may be totaled, but cannot get the answer out of the insurance company on the amount. It appears there is already over 9k damage so far in the body shop's estimate and he stopped as he wasn't sure of the value vs. repair cost at this point. I have been thinking about the CRV as an alternate. Since the 80's I've had a 4x4 or van, and sure don't like sitting low. One of the things I really don't enjoy is shopping for a car. I find the whole process so time consuming and the BS that goes along with it. Oh well, at least I can type away after this, and am not hurt.
