Default East Coast Storm Dec 26/27

Having left Red Sox Nation at 4.30am this morning (delayed 10 mins as a headlight blew out when I started the car) and driven 955 miles to my SC destination without a hitch (nothing newsworthy there), how about a few stories from folks back north?

Completely missed us here in Central PA, but I hear Philadelphia (just a 90 minute drive from here) is expecting 12-18". Can't believe what a near miss! When I see the radar maps, it seems like it should be pretty bad.

Took 3 hours to get from Essex fells to bridgewater tonight, pilot handled the roads like a champ saw 16 wrecked cars on 280 this afternoon with just a light coating lol

In the Northwest suburbs of Philly, We got about 4 inches, maybe a bit more (haven't been out to officially measure it). My boys are a bit disappointed as they were hoping for the 18.

Edit: Turns out we got about 8 inches. My reference point was bad, the winds blew the snow to other areas.

Got about a foot. Glad we didn't get the predicted 20". Strong winds. Bought a new snowblower this year, this isnt supposed to happen (the buy a new snowblower and it doesn't snow all year phenomenon.......). Glad we don't live on the coast, which got heavy snow with flooding and power outages. Getting tired of 24 hour/day storm casting on the news stations.

We got 12" to 16" in the Acton MA area. Hard to tell exactly how much with blowing snow. This is the 3rd snow in December. Hope it is not a repeat of the 2008 winter. I have a quarter-mile long steep driveway. I went down a couple of time after it was plowed (the snow was packed down in places by the plow), but before it was sand, and ended up sliding down half of the way. All 4 wheels were locked with my foot firm on the brakes. The ABS did not activate at all. I guess I was not sliding fast enough to trigger the ABS.

You're getting our central ma snow. We actually only got 6" with a few drifts to 12". The other storms have been dustings for us. My new snowblower purchase is successfully deflecting the snow. At least we were not in Scituate - I never want to wake up to ocean waves hitting my second story windows.

ABS will bring the wheels to a stop slowly to avoid lock up, if you were going slowly, your wheels might have already stopped before ABS could kick in.

Next time, try it with the transmission in 1st gear.
Let engine braking help control your speed.

ABS can be tricky on super slick icy surfaces - at least thats my experience.

We got like 2 feet of snow. Some parts came up to my waist.

Needless to say my pilot handled it without a problem.

We got 14" here in central NJ. Was VERY pleased with my 2011's performance. Definitely more capable in the snow than my previous car, Infiniti FX35.

You should have seen my block on monday. This FX-35 tried to make it's way down my block and got so stuck it's not even funny. Eventually a group of workers came by and shoveled the guy out for $20/person (About $160).
