Default Xbox 360 in the Pilot RES

I have 2011 Pilot EX-L RES and i was wondering if i could hook up my xbox to the 100 watt, 120v power outlet in the center console. Does anyone have any experiences from this? Also my Xbox 360 power brick says 100V-127V. But online it says that the Xbox takes 160 watts. I am so confused. Does it work or not. Does anyone have experiences?

What does the owners manual say about that particular outlet and it's use.

The XBOX 360 draws over 160 watts of power, if you try to use it in the OE outlet, it will more than likely pop a fuse or trip a breaker.

Voltage (which is listed on the power brick) is not the same as wattage.

Krazykarguy is right the Xbox 360 is a power monster. If you can find an older Xbox that should work,
it uses way under half that wattage.
There is information out there about sine wave inverters for the Xbox 360.
I'm sure some of our electronic Guru's will have better suggestions on how to install one in your Pilot.

Ravindu If you have a good custom audio shop in your area I would pay them a visit, maybe just call. Pick there brains as to how you might go about installing an Xbox 360 in your vehicle. Rushing things can only lead to disaster.

Found this on the internet. Mechatroniks Car PC Kits

This article should give you a ballpark idea on wattage drawn from the Xbox 360. I believe this is from the last revision of the hardware (prior to the new 360 S).

However, even in the manual for the new 360 S (Slim) you will find that they say "DO NOT" use any type of inverter to power the console.

I am a moderator over at Xbox.com, and have read horror stories over the years with the 360 and inverters, throughout all of it's hardware revisions. Yes the revisions have allowed for less power draw, but the repair facilities will not repair a console which has been damaged due to the use of inverters. It will void any warranty you may have on the console. Beware!

When a device uses X volts and Y amps, the power source needs to supply exactly X volts and at least Y amps. So if the Xbox needs 120 volts and 160 amps, the 120V/100A outlet in the Pilot meets the voltage requirement, but not the amperage. It's okay if the source can supply more amperage than the device needs, because the device will only draw what it needs. But the voltage (amount and AC or DC) needs to match.
