Nav DVD update...anyone have experience backing up DVD? - Honda Pilot

Hello All,

I just got a notice in the mail that there is a new 2011 Nav DVD out for $185.

Wondering if anyone has experience making a "back-up" copy of of the navi DVD? Say in case I wanted to keep a copy in case the original is broken or stolen...etc. Hint, hint!

Many have tried but no one has reported success....

Can anyone hook me up with ver 4.81a NAV disc?

It used to work back in 2004 with that version. The reason it doesn't work now is because the method for burning the discs can't be replicated. The files logically and physically have to be located in a specific area on the disc. I know many guys who are far more technically proficient that I and tried tried all sorts of methods to burn the modified discs.

The originals aren't burned in the way that one does with a dvd/cd burner.

I tried making a backup of the last version, using different methods. All were failures.

I'm starting to wonder if NavTec is updating anything more than POI's. The latest disc still hasn't updated the 695 & 95 connection north of Baltimore. Traveling 95 in either direction shows one off the road and the gps recalcs directions.

Doesn't the 2011 Pilots have a "Satellite-Linked Navigation System"? What exactly does that mean then?
