Does anyone know if Honda makes a switch for the "blank" switch area on the dash? I would like to get a simple on/off switch, but would like something that looks factory.

That blank is a blank, never intended to be a switch, as far as we can tell to date.

Bummer. I was hoping that they just made an unlabeled switch that you could use for various things. VW used to do this for their "blanks", and I had used one once for aftermarket fogs.

Default Warranty/window etching

What are some of the opinions on these two dealer extras? I intend to keep my Pilot for 6-7 years, so maybe it is a good idea to get the warranty. The window etching seems like a dear profit center. Thanks

Check out HondaCare warranty prices at www.hondacuraworld.com, they are much cheaper than going through the dealer.

Window etching has never proven to be an effective deterrent - it's mainly dealer profit.

Question Question about getting email quotes

We're starting the process of looking for a Pilot and I have some questions about the email quote process.

I have seen numerous posts about how you can get a quote and seal the deal via email and I am curious how this comes about? Most of the dealers I have been emailing want us to call them before they will send quotes and I am wondering if this is the norm?

Can anyone who purchased like this detail the steps you went through? I know exactly what I want and I do have a trade. Since the dealers I am looking to deal with are around 30 to 40 miles from me, being able to do this without driving in there would be a benefit. My husband is the type to walk on a deal if he doesn't get exactly what he wants so I'd like to get things all wrapped up before we drive all the miles.

Thanks for any replies on this.

You can get quotes on the new Pilot vehicle via the internet or phone. You will need to visit the dealership to get a final quote on the trade though because the dealer will need to inspect it. Whether the dealer gives you the Pilot quote over the internet or the phone shouldn't matter much. It will likely require visiting the dealers with the best Pilot quotes to determine who will give you the most for the trade.

David,

Thanks. I *do* utilize the search but sometimes I just don't find it for whatever reason.

No problem. It's knowing the key search terms that comes from reading threads all these years that makes searching easier.

Just use a new car quote website, and the quotes will come to you via email. Here's one:

http://www.newcarquote.com/

Once you have the email quotes, you can work on getting better deals -- all without stepping foot into a dealership. In fact, you don't even have to talk to a salesperson!

Good luck!

Default Is this a good price?

I was just quoted $1,047 below invoice for a 2006 EXL 2WD.

Is this a good price? I live in the Chicagoland area. This is the lowest quote I have gotten so far, most have been several hundred more than this.

Thanks.

That's an excellent price. I wouldn't have thought $1000 below invoice would occur so soon in the new model year.........
