Default call me stupid. I just scratched my 5 days old Pilot.

Damn. this is the worse day after I got my pilot.

I was driving in my company's parking lot. our 40' container truck were backing up. I drop by it in front of it. It's very dark at 5pm in here + it's snowing. I pass the truck, suddently my car was beeping from the seat belt warning. Being the first time hearing it beeps, I was shock what the beeping and slow down my car. Then I heard the grinding sound from my rear right side of the car after the rear door.

Stop the car and saw the dent and scratch right after the rear passanger door to before the tail light. I cant believe I drove pass the bottom corner of the container. The truck driver was backing up the car with an angle and didn't even notice it.

Call the sales and got the touch up paint right away. Got estimate from the dealer for $250~$300 cdn.

My heart was bleeding. I haven't finish my first tank of gas.
I took the picture, but I just don't have the courage to show the picture here. I don't think I can sleep tonight.

Sorry to hearthat happened to your new Pilot. I had that happened too, same spot, but luckily, it was a company car. Even though I did not feel good for that. $300.00 to repair seems a decent price, and hopefully you won't notice any difference after.

ecsw, I feel very bad for you. Did the paint get scratched right off? If it is just a dent and no paint removed, there are companies that have paintless dent repair. I used one called Dent King, and they did a great job. If the paint came off, then a body shop.
Good luck with the repair.

Guess you've proven that the rear "sensor" really do work.

Of course you do need to do something

If he backed into you, shouldn't his insurance cover it? Or were you trying to squeeze by him at the last minute?

If it makes you feel any less stupid last year when I had just bought my 05 Steel Blue 3 days after owning it I was mowing the lawn and had to back the pilot out of the garage alittle so I could get the lawnmower out and well after everything was done I forgot to pull it back in all the way and the pilot was just shy of the sensors for the door but the rear bumper sticking way out and I went to go shut the door.

OH MY GOODNESS WHAT A AWFUL AWFUL GARAGE DOOR SOUND and then as the door was trying to close I see the pilot move about a inch and I knew then what happend.

Somehow it hit right at the corner of the bumper and took put 3 chips of paint but I was able to spend a few hours soaking it with touchup paint and only my wife and I knew.

Heck worse than that a few months ago ( I park on the right she parks on the left of the garage) I switched with her somehow and I was parked outside the garage on the left and she was inside on the right and was about to go somewhere. SO I figured perfect time to switch back. Well she starts to back up in a angle. Then I noticed she was comming right for the Pilot. I laid on the horn and sun of a gun the women HIT ME AFTER I BEEPED THE DANG HORN AT HER!!!!!!

I get out and my whole right side bumper is white crap even through her accord is silver and her car is all scratched and black everywhere. She leaves instantly cause she knows I was about to literally kill her.

I still do not know what the white stuff was till this day but it waxed right off. I still had to do some touch-up on the very corner of the bumper.

She came home and looked at my pilot and started B$*%*tching me out saying I yelled at her for nothing cause there isn't a scratch to the pilot even though I spent 1 hour buffing everything out. I then got nearly every scractch off her car and the only way alot more damage didn't happen, the black stuff was she hit my tire first instead of hitting the bumper.

Again sorry for your pain, I know it sucks so so much.

250-300 cnd dollars quoted from dealer doesn't sound like serious damage, I hope it won't be that bad (the scratches I got from my 04 Sienna last year, were quoted by the dealer for 1000 bucks). I already got some scratches on my 3 months old Pilot's back bumper when I unload my bike , felt bad about it, but now get used to it.

ugh............that is a horrible feeling. We all have it though I guess. My 05 is only 4 months old (to me) and she already has a ding in the driver door (looks like someone brushed their door up against it) and I have a tiny paint chip from a stone or something in the back passenger door and most recently a bunch of tightly bunched scratches in the hood in two different places (looks like a cat lost his footing on my hood and tried to dig in). That one I had to buff out immediately or it was going to drive me nuts. I haven't touched the other dings yet.
You do get used to it after a while though. What the hey.........it's a car right? And further more it is a truck....so they are going to get banged up a little. We are using them. They are not sitting in a show room. It is going to happen.
I do feel your pain though. Seems like everyone else I know who bought a new car went at least a full year before their first ding. I had my first within a month.

first of all. Thanks all of you for the comfort. I felt a bit better now.
I am in the progress of talking to my the manager of truck's company (well, same company, but our sister company in different location). Hopefully they will help me with the bill.

But it's not about the money, it's about a new 5 days old car being scratched and that feels very bad.

Oh man, it looks like dent with a long scratch, and looks like it must have body work and paint work done. Wondering why they are only quoting 250-300, if repaint, the whole panel needs to be painted.

Oh man, now I know why you are feeling awful. I would be sick too. I felt bad when some idiot hit me with a shopping cart, and creased the fender.
I think you need to look at getting some accessory/option to make you feel better!
Good luck with the trucking company.
