No.

Well there might be, but you would have to have it analyzed and compared to all the other standard hydraulic fluids to see if there is a match.

You seem to be very positive on that. The only reason I asked is that every time I go into my Honda dealer to by somthing (which is not to often)
everthing is so overly priced, but this might be one of those items where I will just have to pay the price.

There MAY be an alternative - but no one here has every come up with it (that I know of). The Honda VTM-4 fluid is NOT that expensive. Pretty cheap actually for the peace of mind!!

YMMV

I'm only so "positive" because the question has been asked MANY times and no one has found any product labeled as equivalent.

If it was the same as ATF then Honda would not go to the expense of bottling it separately. They also have a special fluid that if for the 4WD system in CR-Vs.

I agree with N-Jay on this, because when I had it refilled at my local shop. I supplied the VTM fluid from Honda, and he used a hand pump that was used for ATF, and on any tight turns the VTM would make grinding noises. I brought it back to him with another VTM fluid container , we cleaned the pump with extra VTM fluid left over from the old container, by pumping it through and out to an empty bucket. ONLY THEN did we use the new VTM fluid and changed it. No grind after that.

So even a small amount of other stuff makes a big difference in my experience.
