Oops, this was a stupid question.

The original sub has a little less than 4 inches of clearance. The additional 3 inches from the trim ring gives a total of a little less than 7 inches, which is more than enough room.

I also put my amp in the storage area. There was no way the Kicker 700.5 was going to fit under the seat. I also have the nav system so the passenger seat was already occupied. If I did have the area under the seat, I would still have put it in the back. It is much easier to adjust x-over and bass settings (at least on the Kicker) in the rear where you can get to them by just opening the cargo cover. Also, the Kicker has its own fan and has no problem with over heating. It barely gets warm. As far as power, it cost me $25 to run very high quality RF 4 gauge wire.

Default Re; amp install

Hi everyone and thank you for the link to the Crutchfield pictures,Itchy i have not installed the amp in headrest cavity yet...,i just want to maintain an esthetic look to it,but yes under the seat would be a good place to hide an amp....or two.
I apreciate the input.

It would definately be easier to mount the amp under the seat. That would save you from having to pull off all the plastic side panels in the rear.

Was there ever confirmation on the max top mount depth space available? If the cover is modified (cutting away the plastic) and a spacer is utilized, are we at around 6.5"?

I have never seen a firm number. For one reason, you will have to factor in the excursion of the sub you mount. If it is a high excursion sub, you will need to use a smaller spacer or risk hitting the panel.

I can tell you that I just went though this process using a 3 x 3/4" MDF spacers to allow depth for an MTX TR4510-04 sub with 4.8543 depth and the right panel no longer fits (can you say pissed?).

I would LOVE to hear from the guy who used a 3" spacer...how the heck did the panel fit after that? The mounting clip located just below the sub requires ~2" to be secured.

Getting ready to tear it back out...thats a lot of silicone between layers.

Did you trim the spacing ring on the inside panel?
