Luis,

Good job. I just had my Kenwood sub installed as well. I'm sure you would agree that the difference between the aftermarket sub and the OEM is HUGE! The only complaint I have is that the right side of the Pilot rattles a bit when I have the volume up. It's not that much of an annoyance but it is a little noticeable. Have you noticed this? I have thought of having the air space fiberglassed. Probably might help. For right now I'm pretty happy with the sound. Now if I can just find a charger and a mount for my ipod I'll be a happy camper. At least until I can think of something else to add.

Be careful with the spray foam like Great Stuff. It's fine if you use it in your house but if it gets into a high-heat environment, like a hot parked Pilot, it can reactivate and expand a little. You can get a non-reactivating version at www.publicmissiles.com. (I have no relationship with Public Missiles, I just use their parts and foam in rockets.)

I have one question though....How did the interior side panel fit back over the new sub if it was spaced three inches further into the cabin area? Is there that much space between the back of the grill and the front of the OEM sub...or is that a custom grill? It looks to be a perfect fit in your posted picture #2.

It might not be clear unless you read closely, but there is a spacing ring on the inside of the panel that Luis cut off. This allowed the sub (with the wood ring spacer) to protrode out from the fender wall and yet still be flush with the back side of the panel.

Look at this diagram to see the spacing ring which was removed from the plastic panel.

Thanks Tim...great diagram. I now recall a picture in a previous thread that showed this spacer and instructed it's removal.

Luis,

Great pictures and info! Is there any more space behind your sub? I'd like to mount an Infinity Kappa 10" sub, but it's 5/16" deeper than your sub.

If you're getting too much bass, did your installer show you that your amplifier has variable gain controls for the front, rear, and sub channels, and it also has a bass equalization control.
