Default 2012 Honda pilot ANC issues

I have a 2012 Pilot, and just installed subs, I have the issue of rummbling noise when the doors close as did previous models. i have removed the factory radio but there is no upper harness with 5 thick wires to unplug to deactivate the ANC. Any ideas?

Thank you!

Lightbulb Unplug Mics

I think you have to unplug the two microphones in the headliner...one is in the plastic surround on the front dome light and the other one is in the rear , above the 3rd row seat.

I have wanted to install an aftermarket sound system in my '09 since I first heard the barely adequate factory system. I haven't done it yet because I was concered that, without the ANC, there would be a noticeable boom-like sound when the engine went into and out of the cylinder deactivation mode.

When your ANC system is fully disabled, please let me know if there is any noticeable difference in noise level inside the vehicle, either from the cylinder deactivation or road noise in general.
Thanks

Do you mind sharing pics of your setup. i am interested in putting in subs but i am trying to figure where i can place them without losing trunk space. maybe replace the crapy stock one but have to find something that size. But if you can share pics of your setup as well as what you replaced the factory radio with and where yo got the kit i appreciate it thank you.

It's not worth removing the headliner in order to get to the ANC mics. The best solution is to unplug the ANC connector from the back of the 2012 radio. The bonus to unplugging this connector is that it also disables the factory subwoofer without loss of any functionality (except the subwoofer level in the setup menu, obviously). How convenient!

As you can probably tell, I just installed the setup in my signature in my 2012 Pilot. I initially had the booming noise as well. By removing the ANC plug from the back of the HU, it solved the problem. I didn't have a current 2012 wiring diagram, but knew that one of the connectors was responsible for the ANC and stock subwoofer. Trial and error of unplugging and plugging back in each connector (aside from the main radio harness) solved the puzzle. No more booming!

I haven't noticed any additional road noise, as I usually listen to music when driving. When on a Bluetooth voice call, there is no reduction in BT mic performance either.

If you have any other questions on installing an amp with the factory radio on a 2012 Pilot PM me.
