Cool Introduction/Small system build 05 Pilot EXL

Hello all, I've been a follower here since before we bought my wife's 05 Pilot a couple of years ago, but this is my first post. Definitely do not regret getting the Pilot, we both love it! It's a silver EX-L with RES. Has 147k miles and still going strong! She's a kindergarten teacher and I run a window cleaning business.

Before starting my own business, I worked for Best Buy for 3 years. While there I used the employee discount like crazy (which was awesome but now sucks). Before quitting last August I bought a full Infinity Kappa system for her Pilot. I run a full Kappa set-up in my S10 as well.

Here's a list of the component's that I bought:
2 pairs of Infinity Kappa 60.9cs component speakers for all 4 doors.
Infinity Kappa 100.9w sub that I will put in the factory location thanks to this thread's instructions and pictures.
Infinity KappaFive 5 channel amp to power it all.

Since my wife is a school teacher I had to wait until she had a school break to do any installation of the speakers. I got the rear doors done the last Friday of December, and the front doors done yesterday, Jan 16. I didn't take any pics during install since I'll be getting back into the doors to run speaker wire once I get the amp installed, but here are the pics of the finished product of all the doors. I'll add more in coming months as I get the amp and sub installed.

Here are a couple comparison shots, stock vs Kappa.

It already sounds 10x better than stock running off of the stock HU. The components will really come to life once I get the amp in. We're keeping the stock HU because we use the RES on trips. I did the install myself thanks to all the info I've gathered so far from PTO, Luis, Bernie, PrG, and several other people I can't find off hand.

ditto, ive never seen a set installed without a grille on them. its a good start to making the music sound better. are you going to use the factory head unit with an amp?

That mount I used lets you set the angle to your liking. There is a grill on them, just not a typical stock looking grill. I'd like to paint the cup that the tweeters sit in to match the door panel, as well as the silver grill to blend in a bit more. I'm sticking with the stock stereo because I have the RES and I don't want to lose it. I went with the components in rear too because we use it as our travel vehicle so we end up with 5 adults in it and the ones in back always complained about not being able to hear any treble. Those components fixed that.

Nice install !! I have to agree with G.P. on the tweeters. I have never seen any quite like that. If it will make you feel any better I had to run upgraded speakers off the stock head unit for a while. The Polks ( & I imagine the Infinitys ) sound way better than the factory speakers. When you finally hook them up to the amp though they will come alive...wait and see !!!
