Default Can you buy a factory NAV and install it yourself?

Just curious more than anything.

I just got a 2011 EX-L (no nav, no res) and I was wondering if you can just buy the nav/audio system and swap it in.

It seems like it would be a fairly easy install but I haven't seen anywhere that sells them.

Again, really just curious more than anything.

You could, most likely, but brace yourself for realistically no less than $4000 in parts if you buy new, probably quite a bit more once you've added wiring and other bits and pieces, as well as tearing into your dash and driver's seat etc etc. Big big job. If you'd like to confirm that for yourself, take a hunt here; http://www.bernardiparts.com/SearchO...da-pilot-parts

Basically, you could buy the mother of all aftermarket GPS head units and have it professionally installed for less than a quarter of the parts cost.

In a similar vein, I was interested in doing the same thing, but I'm also open to the aftermarket solutions. Does anyone have any tips on what would constitute "the mother of all head units" or where I could find her?

Kenwood Excelon DNX9980HD Navigation receiver at Crutchfield.com

This comes pretty close but it's a double din needing a custom mount for 2009+ pilots but with a 4K budget and 2.5K left somebody could make it for you.

Question was asked by first gen pilot owners too. Conclusion, best off to sell car and buy one with NAV built in

No shame in tracking down a local car stereo shop and getting them to do the work.
