Default LX to EX Climate Module Swap

So on a whim I picked up the EX Climate Module and figured I'd give it a shot and see if it worked in my '07 LX. Turns out....It "sorta" works...

Unit lights up and the buttons all "seem" to function. Temp knob works. A/C comes on. But the annoying think is the blower stays on full blast the entire time.

Now there is one huge difference on the two units. The EX unit has a 2nd plug in the back of the module that my LX's harness doesn't appear to have a plug for.

So I pose the question, does anyone know what the smaller of the two plugs does? It might be something to do with the variable fan speed control. There might be another unit that I am simply missing.

For those of you with EX's does the fan control slow down and speed up or seem to snap between different speeds? (meaning does it feel like a light dimmer going up and down or more like a fan switch with a low, middle and high)...

Thanks for the help.. This is my first post here, but not my first time "fixing" a few things I didn't like with more than one car/truck.

Thanks,
Mike

Hum, I might have spoke too soon and picked up the incorrect part online. The orrect EX part # for 2007 should be 79600-S9V-A43ZA. it appears I have a S9V-A414-M1.

FWIW.. anyone looking for this or related info can find it here... (which is an awesome resource)

On my 03 EX there are like 6 or 8 fan speeds.

I don't believe that's any of your business. If the OP wants to spend his or her money on a "better" AC control unit, why not? If you have the money, then I say go for it!

$27 + shipping on ebay.. i figured if I couldn't get it working, I could always sell it to someone who might need it. $500 would have been out of the question...

But then again, i could have a faulty unit and that is why I am unable to control the fan at all (can't even turn it off..)

ok...i think the LX has the same speeds as stops in the knob... Hum... I'll hve to dig more into the electrical diagrams and see if I can figure out how it gets the resistor values...

Thanks for the info...

It could be for that, or it also could be for the sunlight sensor in the middle of the dash near the windshield, or maybe both.

The auto climate control on EX and higher models gets inputs from both of these sensors, and adjusts fan speed accordingly.

MikeAWood,
Have you tried to turn the climate control unit on by pushing on the buttons that control the fan speed? I'm guessing that you've also tried to run it not in 'Auto' mode? Not sure if trying these things would work, but they're certainly worth a try.

It's for the rear controls.

In the ETM for the '04 Pilot, the circuit layouts are significantly different between the LX and EX. There are some common leads (ground, power, etc.) but the ones that map to the blower controls, modes and A/C pressure switch are different. I would go back to the original control unit before any damage is done.
