Default DVD player for 05 Pilot

Hey, new member here, Ive got a question for you guys. Bought a dvd kit for my 05 pilot ex with sunroof. I was on ebay last night and ran upon this auction it says it fits an 05 pilot. Here is the link 03 04 05 06 07 08 Honda Pilot DVD Player w/ Screen OEM - eBay (item 370486755663 end time Mar-23-11 09:05:22 PDT)

it looked like a great deal for the whole kit. I looked it up online and it looked to cost much more any other place i saw. anyway, i noticed when i looked it up online that all the other descriptions of it when i put in the model number show it is for an 06 pilot and not 05. I am worried it may not fit in my dash. I also need a trim kit for it i guess but am not sure what trim kit to get, if it will work in an 05. my pilot has the six cd changer under the radio and it has a sunroof.

anybody know if it will fit. thanks a bunch

Default Welcome.

I know that some of the OEM kits will only fit the LX models. Who did you purchase your kit from ? Can they confirm that It will fit your EX ?

Someone else posted a similar story recently but I cannot find the thread. Sounds like Honda is trying to move new old stock items left over from the first gen pilot.

For an LX the head unit likely was fitted underneath the single din radio that came with that model. If you have an EX or EXL (no nav) I'd say there is a good chance of it fitting under the cd changer EXL with Res style. But until you get in there, you wont know. If you have an EXL and you can get it to fit in that slot, you'll also need on the EXL the EXL/RES heated seat unit as well rather than your current set up.

More I think about this, the more details there are to sweat to get it to work "right".

Look at this picture for the EXL Res set up with changer. The "stack" goes closer to the console itself than on the non Res units.

i cant blow up the pic to get a closer look but it looks like its closer to the console becasue that one has the dvd and 6 disc changer underneath the climate controls, in addition to the seat heaters. that pic proves its possible, that one is obviously a 1st gen pilot because of the way the center vents are.

Here's an info link. The unit for sale is for the 2006. The unit for the 2005 only fits the LX cleanly: Link

Default take out 6 cd changer

I am assuming that my radio will work just fine withthe single cd player that's in it if I take out the six cd changer? That seems like it may be the easiest. Maybe I would not have to order a trim kit that way

most likely, yes the HU will still function the same when you remove the changer and unplug the cable.

Default 05 pilot dvd

Anyone installed one of these with a sunroof? Why on the installation instructions does it make you take off the front visors and center console light. It seems like that wouldnt be necessary. of coarse i have not ottten my unit yet it may be clear when i get it. Is $165 a good deal on this unit. i thought that was real inexpensive. probably would have spent 125 on the ones that hang from the seat. What do you mean when you say "res" Thanks for info

Default different brackets

this is what i have ordered
http://www.handa-accessories.com/pilot/06ives.pdf

the brackets appear to be different in the kit i have coming than the monitor bracket on the 05 and lower install instructions but the display screens appear to be different too. Does anyone know if a 08b23-s9v-100b will attach to the roof of an 05 pilot ex with sunroof? Thanks

res-rear entertainment system. it wants you to take all that stuff down to make it easier to fish the wires from the monitor over the headliner. they figure if one whole half of the headliner is loose, there shouldnt be any issues running the wiring harness.
