'09 exl OEm stereo upgrade to Touring

Has anyone upgraded their exl stereo to the touring. What I intend to do is put in a kenwood double din nav/dvd player where the Touring navi goes. But on my exl the stereo and heat control displays where the navi is on the touring. I have noticed the Touring stereo has the heat and stereo display in a different location.

I hope this makes sense, but I really want to know if this would work. If it does I will certainly start looking for the Touring factory stereo.
