Question 2007 LX Speakers and Deck replacement

Hi, I've tried to figure out the answer to my question but I've seen so many conflicting answers that I figured that asking it here would be best.

I have a 2007 LX (the base model with 4 door speakers) and I wanted to upgrade the sound system, since the sound is not very good. I am not looking to spend too much so I was thinking of only replacing the speakers and the car deck.

A lot of people have said that I need an amp, which would make the cost significantly higher, so I don't really want to. Are there any good speakers and decks that you would recommended that would work without having to install an amp?

At Best Buy these are what they showed me but the guy there did not know if you need an amp to use them.

Alpine 6.5" 2-Way Car Speakers (SPS-600) : 6 1/2" Speakers - Best Buy Canada

Finally, would I even notice a difference by only doing such a small upgrade?

Thanks for the help.

Those speakers would definitely be an upgrade over the stock speakers. Even with the factory head unit, you'll notice a big difference.

Will it be enough? It depends on your expectations.

The Pilot is a BIG vehicle to fill with sound, so if you like to listen pretty loud, then you may need a larger amp to help out.

My advice, start with the speakers alone, see what you think. If that's not enough, replace the factory head unit, see what you think. If that's not enough, go for the amp.

Although it wouldn't hurt if you replaced the head unit and speakers at the same time, you may want to start with just the speakers if you're on a budget.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help.

In the end I got these speakers and this deck since they were on sale for boxing day.

Just to be certain, the speakers size is 6.5 inches for all of the 2007 models right?

You need to check the mounting depth. The mounting depth for the front doors is less than the rear doors.

You do not need an amp for 4 speakers. Any deck is going to have a built-in amp to power at least 4 speakers.

Hi, all you need to do is replace the front stage with some good components, amp them and leave the rear speakers to be powered by the headunit. Having components in the front makes a world of difference.

These are good components http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4630

Sorry if all my questions seem stupid. I know practically nothing about speakers.

I can't find the exact specifications for the Pilot mounting depth. Does anyone know where I can find the mounting depth?

According to Crutchfield the infinity speakers won't fit in the front doors. I've heard that you can get them to fit using a spacer or something. How does that work?

Once again thanks a lot for the help
