Default 05 EX-L without RES, add it afterwards?

Hey all,

I've got an 05 EX-L, leather and sunroof. I'd like to add the original RES system to the car.

I saw item # 390264053184 on ebay. It would seem all is there (without the proper headunit that has rear controls).. and seems it would work.

I emailed the seller, he says it won't work with a sunroof model? Really? I've seen other pics on here (accessories thread page 1 of 24..) has the fold down DVD with a sunroof.

Anyone done this add-on? I know I know.. just use an aftermarket headunit, but I like a challenge. =)

Looking at the auction, its a completely different style of unit to the OEM that came from the factory. DVD unit is a changer not single disk (not bad actually). Screen is totally different, The Factory unit is wired not RF.

But that price makes you want to get it.

I believe this unit is a 06+ model dvd unit? I've seen older dvd players from the RES setup on Ebay, which doesn't have an aux-input, but this dvd player has aux-input right in the front. It says original OEM, valued at 1700$US (I believe him..) so for that price, someone buy it and let me know! =) It's 90$ shipping to Canada.. ouch.. 1/2 the value in shipping costs.. no way.

The referenced ebay unit is for 2006-2008 models as noted. Note that the correct DVD iVES system accessory for the 2005 model year does not mount cleanly in a 2005 EX-L. It only fits 2005 LX models directly. Link to 2005 compatible DVD iVES info

*ack* my dreams are crushed.. lol. Aftermarket might be my only way.. OEM's = no worries for crooks to smash and grab! =)

As for a clean install, any details available? gapping? harness issues? faceplates, etc..?
