Question 2006 Pilot EX leather no Nav Radio Problem

The Audio on my 2006 EX L (no navigation) occasionally does not come on when I turn the radio on. After driving a few miles, there is a "pop" and it suddenly appears. This happens in all modes, including CD and XM. I can see the clock, illumination, volume control etc., station indicator etc. The dealer says that there might be a loose solder connection somewhere and there is no solution except to replace the entire unit. I'm not sure if the problem is in the pre-amp or the amp!
Is anyone having a similar issue, and if so, is there any way to diagnose and repair it without an expensive replacement. If need be, is there an aftermarket or updated Honda radio that will replace all the features of the installed unit, including XM, steering wheel controls PLUS add bluetooth and iPhone connections?
Thank
Jerry

Sounds like a bad Head Hnit. Your best bet is to buy one from eBay and that will replace what you had.
If you have lots of money to spend you can get an aftermarket Head Unit like a Pioneer AVIC Z1/2/3 or Z110BT as well as a PAC Steering Wheel control adapter and you will get GPS, Bluetooth, Ipod/Iphone and satellite radio of your choice. I put an AVIC Z3 in my 2003 Pilot with BT/Ipod/Sirius/PAC for under $1000..but I did all the work myself.

I appreciate all the responses, and I looked at other threads. This seems to be a common issue, at least in the complaints sites. I am willing to replace the radio with an OEM, but I can't find one that has the satellite tuner built in. I don't want to have a separate tuner sitting on the dash etc. Does anyone know of a unit that has everything built in, or least can be all dash mounted? That would include satellite tuner, CD/DVD player, AM/FM radio, and Bluetooth, iPhone access? I could buy a unit from eBay, but it is probably refurbished or used, and even a "new" one, if available, could end up with the same problem.
Thanks
