Default Keyless Entry Problem

When I push the button on my key to unlock the vehicle, the alarm does not turn off/doors do not unlock. I need to physically insert the key into the driver side door handle to unlock the vehicle/turn off the alarm. I tried replacing the battery and that did not work.

I would appreciate anyone's help with this as I like to try to do most of the work on my vehicle myself if at all possible.

Thanks!

Do you see the led on the remote respond?
Did you test the battery for voltage (3 volts I believe)?
Does your 2nd remote work?

Above all that did you take the remote portion out of your battery and make sure that top connector (+) is making proper contact? I know some people posted about that and the dielectric grease honda put on it.

The LED on the remote doesn't respond and I haven't tested the voltage of the new 3 volt battery yet. Unfortunately, our second key was lost on vacation last year and I haven't replaced it yet.

I've taken the remote part out, but I haven't tested it to see if it's making contact correctly. I'll do that. What this about dielectric grease that Honda put on it? Haven't heard anything about that.....

Thanks for the pointers.

I have the same problem with my 05 Pilot EX-L w Nav.
Did you ever find a solution to the problem- Horn not blowing when you lock with remote and click for verification.
Thanks.
