Just wish it wasn't so friggin' expensive. Like buying a new Garmin everytime.
hondanavi.com if you're interested. I usually upgrade every other year and now it's time...damnit...

If only it was as comprehensive as a Garmin...I'm tired of seeing 'undocumented route' on my Honda GPS Oct 2009 update while my 3 year old TomTom has the routes clearly documented.

Ouch, $185. Is that the cheapest way to get a legit copy? Has anyone asked Tim if he can do better?

And there's no way to add third party POI's, such as the files from Trapster. Next time, I think I'll pass on the factory nav.

note: My examples are just the last three searches on my NAV and three towns I know of just outside DFW.

iPhone, eh? I thought you only needed a compass.
Anyway, I totally agree with using a smartphone as a personal navigation device. Smartphone navigation is taking chunks of the market away from dedicated GPS devices as it should. They have become the jack of all trades and it makes sense that people will use them for navigation as well, especially for quick lookups or short trips. I know I certainly do. However, it's not really a fair comparison since smartphones require $30/mo or higher data plans, have much smaller screens, and require some sort of mounting device in order to comply with today's "hands free" laws. Also, in case you don't already know this, your mobile device will not provide any navigation assistance if it has no cell signal, even with a good GPS lock. Without data to populate the maps, you're just a dot on a blank screen. Since I happen to find myself in areas without coverage a couple of times a year, I'm glad my vehicle has a dedicated GPS device with pre-populated maps. I also own a small handheld GPS for backpacking, etc. I just wish it didn't cost $185 to update the maps. That's super lame.
