Anyone add an amp to a 09-11 Pilot (with the Automatic Noise Canceling system)? I've read it CAN cause issues. Not sure if it does, but read it CAN.
Anyone unplug the ANC system? There is a plug on the back of the radio to unplug the mics. Wondering if the ANC really makes any difference with the VCM cylinder deactivation. I don't really want to pull the head unit out to try ![]() This guy here did, but hasn't been posting. |

This is from post #20 in the thread:
"No major difference............I think the ANC was a engineers wet dream. I notice the lag in the motor more than any sound change in the cab." Sounds like the ANC system didn't make a noticeable difference. Also earlier in thread, it was mentioned that there was a noise issue with the ANC system connected along with the aftermarket amp. What type of amp are you installing (i.e. 5 channel, 4 channel, mono sub amp, etc)? Chances are you'll have to pull out the head unit anyways to wire up a LOC.

Yeah I read #20 were they said "no major difference..." but was hoping someone else in the last year had tried.
I'm looking to add an aftermarket amp to power a better sub (or perhaps just cleaner power to the OEM sub for starters). Tapping into the subwoofer's lead, just before the sub enclosure/sub amp would be far easier than pulling the head unit out. Mostly likely the ANC system is being processed in the head unit anyway, since that is where the mics plug in. I'm only guessing here. In one of the posts from above they mentioned thinking there was a bad ground loop. Ground loop noise would pick up more in the mids/highs. But there's too much guessing to form any real conclusion to what they were or were not hearing. Way too much guessing. |
