Heya folks, I've read over the threads here and I have an idea of what I would like to do for an upgrade in the near-ish future, but for the time being I would like to look at immediate (this weekend) options for altering the sound in my stock setup.
This Pilot came with the 6-disc factory player and afaik it has all factory speakers/sub. I am planning to do a tear down this weekend to inspect the speakers and cables, and get a better idea of a build-out. Since I will be doing a tear down I wanted to see what options/tasks I should take care of now: 1 - Add Dynamat (or other material... such as?) in speaker/sub locations 2 - Locate that one clip on the left of the sub that is rattling and silicone/secure it to halt one rattle 3 - Inspect wires/connectors for any fraying/wear 4 - Inspect speakers for cone/surround damage Anything else? Suggestions? What have you done that has helped/hurt your system? |

I honestly think replacing all the factory speakers would be one of the best things you could do for improving sound. The OEM speakers are just not good quality speakers & could not reproduce the sounds I wanted to hear. You can read through the forums and get different advice for speaker brands but I have learned that is a matter of personal taste. Replacing the factory sub is I think your most difficult part of your tear down. If for no other reason that you have to take out more trim pieces than replacing any other speaker. ( my opionin )
Dynamat is not bad stuff but I think there is better stuff out there. I used Blackhole, & yes agian this is another matter of personal taste. If you do a back dated search of the audio section of the forum then it should give you a lot of ideas. There are some that are more involved and some that are less involved. Just depends on the amount of time and money you want to spend. A lot of the things you want to do depend on where you are money and time wise. Some form of sound dampening is not a bad way to start.
