Default 2005 replacement to get AUX?

I really would like to get a newer headunit to get the AUX feature to hook up an Ipod.

Is the 06' plug and play or is there more to it?

I recently picked up a cassette adapter for my 2005 EXL.
It now plays my IPOD Touch. Phillips is the brand and at
a whopping $10 at Walmart you can't beat it.
Quality is excellent so long as you set the volume at about
3/4 on the IPOD Touch.
I thought about spending a lot more but why. Just my 2
cents.

I have a 05 and use the usa spec. It works for my ipod and my Sirius
Took me 30 mins to hook it up. I just disconnected my 6 cd changer I never used.

yeah, I too would not take apart my headunit just to play an ipod. Get the cassette adapter like cofetym suggested. I've been meaning to get one for a while now, but because I have so many CDs, it's never been a priority.

Go with the USA Spec or Blitzsafe type products and you'll be in good shape with your existing HU.

If you are in any doubt about doing this yourself, find a car radio shop to install it for you.

There are lots of DIY threads on this board so you can see whats involved. A search will find them for you

If you can change a tire, you can put the USA spec in. It's that simple.

As for the cassette adapter I had 2 of them and they sucked for volume and noise. One was 30.00 the other 10.00. No difference I use them now as coasters

Nothing that amazon.com can't fix.
Amazon.com: cassette adapter: Automotive Amazon.com: cassette adapter: Automotive

Get the one with the most stars/reviews ratio.

I agree, may not be better than the USA Spec or a direct interface solution, but on the cheap it's a winner.

If you have RES and want to listen to an Ipod, you have to either use the AUX in when the kids aren't watching video the casette adapter if they are.
