Default 2007 Pilot Aux Input - GROM-AUX-HON1

Hello,

I am looking to purchase an aftermarket AUX input device. I have been looking around quite a bit and there are many options. I have the standard head unit(6-disc changer) I do not have XM, NAV or extra 6 disc changer hooked up but all buttons are there. I have read that many of the AUX devices use the CD Changer button but I would prefer to get a converter that would utilize the AUX button. Does anyone have experience with the GROM unit or other sub $100 unit that will work in this way? I will be using this mainly for NON-IPOD MP3 Player

Kevin:

Welcome to piloteers.org

The forum has an excellent search function that will probably reveal several answers to your question.

One popular online source for ipod adapters is LOGJAM ELECTRONICS.COM - Your Source for iPod Car Interface Kits for your Car Stereo

Good luck

Thank you,

I have tried searching for the Aux Input addapter on here and have found many results. I still haven't been able to get a clear answer on if they use the CD/CD chgr or AUX/XM button. Idealy I would like to use the AUX/XM button. I also have not found much info on the GROM unit. The specs seem to be pretty good and the price is right so if any one knows anything about it please give me some info on it or any other items.

I do not use or plan on using IPOD so I am looking for something that is for any MP3 player such as Cell phone, SanDisk, Sansa...

I ordered the grom-aux-hon1 interface last week. It does not work correctly with XM and navigation. It works fine if you disconnect the XM tuner, but then the navi screen will not work. You can then plug in the XM tuner, and all will work correctly. However, turn off the ignition and you're back to square one. I shall be returning it for a refund. After an hour online with their tech support, they confirmed that it does not work correctly (even though the same tech support guy said it would work with Navi/XM).

Just bumping this as I'd like to get some additional info about these products. We are looking at an adapter that connects to one of the inputs on the factory stereo, then allows one to connect a male/male 3.5 audio cable to your ipod/mp3/phone etc and pipe it though the factory system, correct?

I have not gotten my manuals yet on my Pilot, just to check, how many inputs are there on the back of the factory stereo in the EX, with no Nav/Changer/XM?

You have a 14 pin connector that is used to connect the XM/nav if you have it. There is no direct input, so you must fool the radio into thinking there is a cd changer with one of the above units. The GROM unit may well work for you. It's on clearance for $49 at the GROM audio store at the minute. I have ordered a Blitzsafe unit which is guaranteed to work.

Just installed the Blitzsafe HON/AUX DMX V.2X and it just works. Press
the aux button (I have and EX-L with Navi/XM) and the radio display says "CD4" and the Navi/radio display says "Extension". Sound quality is excellent.
$79 delivered from eBay. You will also need a 3.5mm (or 2.5mm for some phones) to RCA cable as it isn't supplied. Install took about 5 mins - the unit will just fit down the right side of the radio.
