Subscribing... want to see the finished product. Good luck, that is a serious undertaking, both financially and leg-work wise.

Need to get my ass in gear and get my Polk's installed and get a replacement sub.

Nice build!

I just spoke to DC Power today about his 180A alternator with a smaller pulley to compensate for the under-drive pulley I plan to install later. I'm going very conservative on my audio system, but I need more power for lighting when camping. My system will be simple, just a Pioneer 800PRS deck, Kenwood XR-5S amp and a Tang Band 10" sub in the factory location with Kenwood eXcelon coax in the rear, and eXcelon separates in the doors with tweeters where you have yours. Waiting on the PAC SWI to show up so I can put the deck in for now.

Did you think about using Luxury Liner on the floor? I'm going with SecondSkin for my dampening too, but waffling about whether to do Damplifier and Overkill, Damplifier and Luxury Liner Pro, or just Damplifier Pro on the front doors, sub area, and tailgate with regular Damplifier everywhere else except the floor where I'll use Luxury Liner. Calling Anthony on Friday to discuss it. Trying to eliminate as much noise and vibration as I can with the minimal amount of weight gain. I can't get rid of the third row, so no easy way to shed weight...

I don't know your plans for the sub box, but I can highly recommend Steve Deckert's Decware designs:

I would do damplifier first and then the luxury liner over it. I would like to add some liner later on, I just dont have the free cash for it right now. I especially need a section where the 3rd row was to kill some noise. I need to take some current pictures of this as well. I have 3 batteries in the back now and a temporary 10" sub. I'm taking a really hard class at school right now and I haven't had much time to work on this

This may be a little off but I have to know,

What is the difference of using a small pulley and using a bigger pulley for the alternator.

Alternators are designed to produce a charging voltage and current at a certain RPM. When an under drive pulley is used on the crank, the OE alternator spins slower, there by reducing both the voltage and current it produces. So in order to maintain the correct voltage output, a smaller pulley is needed to spin the alternator faster relative to the engine RPMs since the belt is now being spun slower.

An under drive pulley also effects the PS pump and the AC compressor, but they are generally fine and unless you live in Phoenix or other crazy hot places the reduced output of the AC compressor isn't noticed. A firmer steering feel is a win in my book with the Pilot too, but I came out of an Audi A4 Quattro UltraSport that had 255/40/18s so I was used to a really firm steering wheel. The PS fluid might heat up a little more too though generally it should actually run cooler since it's not being pressurized as much, but I still plan to add a better PS cooler than even the OE towing cooler.

great build man. how did you come across amps so cheap? i was gifted years ago with a memphis mojo 2500D thats gonna go in my accord soon or later. i am curious to see how this plays out for you. i competed with 4 8's and the 2500 in bass race 139.9 did awsome for the local stuff and then a while farther back i did 129.9 with 2 8s and the same 2500. you should have no problem in the 149.9 just learn your setup very well thats what its all about.

thanks for the kind words! I spend a lot of time on the different car audio forums and that's where I get most of my equipment that I don't buy new. If you're looking for something I'd be glad to help you with your search.

Here's a little progress. Between school and the weather here I havent got much done lately.

I replaced my Optima Group 75/25 (I think?) with a rebadged Deka Intimidator that I got at my local Fleet & Farm. Its a G34 so its a bit bigger and brand new. The old battery is for sale if anyone is interested. It is resting at 12.8 after being off the charger for quite some time.

Yes this is a mess, I know. I threw it together to make a show and I missed it anyway :/ You can see the battery bank I plan on using and also where I will be mounting one of my amps

Jeebus. This stereo looks like ear bleeding time. ....and here I'm putting off ripping apart my panels to lay in dynamat and secure rattling clips until 2011... <--LAZY

The build looks very very promising though, we'll be curious to see what kind of readings you get from that rig when you're done!!

Two hundred pounds of batteries sitting right behind the second row? Strap those babies down tight!

I have them wedged in there nice and tight. The battery case is mounted to 2x4s that will form part of the floor. Unfortunately I really notice the extra weight as these actually weigh closer to 100 lbs a piece.

Small update... I metered the little 10" at 143.7 db at 43Hz.
