Default New Unit Install

If I install a new head unit, say a Pioneer Double DIN DVD/GPS/CD unit, and if I use a wiring adapter kit to plug the system into the vehicle factory wiring, will I have to bypass the factory Amp and possibly the factory woofer? This occurred when I installed the unit in my 2007 Civic EX. The only thing that worked after that was the door and rear speakers with only the unit power. Did this post make sense? Thanks

The factory sub is nothing to be proud of and worth replacing if you making that kind of investment in your cars.

The 1st gen Pilots do not have a factory amp - all of the speakers are powered by the head unit. You will lose the factory sub unless you add an amp. If you go the amp route, I would consider upgrading the sub as well.
