I bought my Pilot with what turns out to be an a$$ load of hotwired accessories- a portable DVD player that broadcasts over the radio and projects to my headliner screen via S-vid cable, an XM antennae and power supply (without an XM radio to attach,) a VCR under the passenger seat connected to my headliner screen (does anyone have VHS tapes anymore?)
I want to get rid of all that crap and replace the factory headunit with an aftermarket unit that will do most if not all the functions of these tapped in accessories (other than the VCR, which i will probably leave in place) My qualifications are as follows I'd like to continue to use the factory steering wheel controls in the Pilot to change channels, and control volume. I'd like DVD functionality, and the ability to send the picture to the screen in the back seat. I'd like to have XM radio- I have XM in my TL and I really like it. I'd like the unit to be a double din so that it looks like it "fits" in my dash. Having a NAV expansion port would be nice in case I decide to add it later, but this is not neccessary since I have a nice portable Garmin that i currently use. Any ideas? Phil

There's quite a few choices out there for that price. Personally I'm partial to Kenwood but Crutchfield has a great deal right now on the Clarion NX409 at $450. It covers all of your requirements plus NAV. As with most aftermarket units you'll need the add-on XM or Sirius tuner as well as the steering wheel control adapter. The add-on XM tuner is about $100; $50 for Sirius and the steering wheel control adapter is $70 (PAC SWI-JACK). The mounting kit and OEM wire harness plug will normally cost about $30 but is free with purchase from Crutchfield.

Pioneer X920BT for a little more than $700 would be a good one.
A Pioneer Z110BT (soon to be a Z120BT) would be another...but it would be way over $700. I have a 2003 Pilot with a Pioneer Z3 and it fits very nicely. |

I like my Kenwood DNX5120. It's a couple/3 model years old, so you could either get one cheap, or get the current version. DVD & NAV are built in. XM, bluetooth, iPod and steering wheel controls require external modules.
The two gripes I have are that the NAV voice volume should be adjustable without having to drill down into the setup menus, and a connection for speed-compensated volume would be nice.

Bought a new 2011 Pilot. I am looking at getting a Pioneer X920BT installed on it. Are there any recommended places to get it installed in tbe South bay area (San Jose, CA). I may look at AMS Car Stereo, Best Buy etc. If anyone has recommendation for a place, that will be nice.
