Hi. I have a question...
I have 2007 Honda Pilot EX - without Navi. I'm installing a Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD tomorrow morning, and was wondering if the stock sub will work; if not. Is there a sub that fits the Pilot that DOES NOT require an AMP?

Please help!!! Thank you!!!

The Pioneer will not power the factory sub or any other aftermarket sub. You'll need an amp at a minimum.

ED27 is 100% right...to take it a step further no aftermarket head unit will provide power to 5 channels. Sub amp it is...but if you are game enough to replace the sub...an aftermarket AMP will be easy. Just go shallow (and learn how to use a jigsaw for the spacer)

Default Hmmm???? Help...

Hi All...
Another question.
There's a harness (gray) that only has two cables, which are for the subwoofer. Below is a link of the wiring diagram.. I installed a Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD, which works great, and it has dedicated subwoofer plugs.
Is there a way to take that mini harness off, strip those Cables (RR Subwoofer(+) and RR Subwoofer(-)) and connect them to some sort of RCA Cable and connect them to that subwoofer plug? I also attached a picture of the back of the Radio, and the radio in the Pilot, (just waiting for the Double Din case)

Why would you want to do that? The subwoofer output on your Pioneer is preamp level. The OEM radio powered the sub directly so you still need an amp - there's no way around it with your setup.

The sub-out needs an amp for it to drive a speaker. The rear amps on the HU can be used to drive a 2 ohm sub-woofer for 2.1 sound. I would go for a external sub amp so you can drive the fronts and rears from the HU.

Since you replaced the stock head unit the only way to have a subwoofer is to add a sub AMP (signal from the sub pre-amp on your new Pioneer) AND replace your factory sub. Powering the stock sub will not sound good. I recommend the Kenwood shallow mount xw1000.

Default Idea?!?! Lets work together.

Hi all. Thank you all for you responses, but I must say, that I'm still stuck. I don't want to have to buy a sub, if i don't have to. Now, let me explain...
I used to have that radio in a Toyota Avalon XLS, which had a pretty good system I must add. Well, I took it out since my wife hardly ever used it, or cared for it, and wanted it for my own Pilot. When it was on the Avalon, I had to use the plug behind the radio, which crutchfield had sent to me, and everything, including the stock sub, worked. I do think that the Avalon had a stock amp, since it's a JBL system on the highest Avalon Class.
Now, you guys said that the Pilot Stock Radio gave power to the sub, but I don't know how, if that little harness ONLY has TWO cables, positive and negative, two wires, that look exactly to the regular FR, FL, etc. I saw them, and per the wiring harness, they are for the stock subwoofer. Did the stock radio have an integrated amp to power the sub? I don't think it would fit there.

Now, if thats the case, there has to be a way, with some type of bypass with a relay, that will give power to the sub? I installed a bypass for the radio that will allow DVD playback while driving. On the video that taught me how to do the bypass, he says something at the end explaining what the bypass does, can't the same thing be used for a sub?
Heres the link of that video:

I also attached two pictures of the board of the stock radio where the harnesses connect to. The gray one, is the one where the subwoofer harness connects to. Is there any power there? I don't see anything that shows giving power, or anything like a mini amp. Is there a stock amp?

Guys, sorry for not giving up on this, I think we may be able to save the stock radio for people that are like me, that don't necessary need a lot of power. If you guys have ANY ANY idea how this MIGHT work, let me know. I don't mind trying it out, and post the results. Together we can come up with something. Look at me as a guinea pig...

Please search the forums. Every question you have asked has been exhausted in the forums. Once you put in the time you will have all information necessary to finish your system.

The stock head unit powers all 5 channels including the stock subwoofer (there is no external amplifier. Every experience in this forum will indicate to you that there is no external amplifier that you can provide signal to from an aftermarket head unit. The "B" harness that you are describing does contain + (WHT/GRN) and - (BLK/WHT) for the sub...they run directly to the sub as speaker leads (not through an external AMP). All other connections in that harness are for the Active Noise Control Unit (ANC). Some people have mistaken this for an amplifier but it is not.

Since you replaced the head unit you must now purchase a separate sub amplifier and you must replace the stock sub (of course you can decide to power the stock Alpine paper weight that Honda provided but it will sound lousy. I am sorry but there is NO way around it.

Good Luck.

Default That's too bad

Hi,
That's too bad, I was hoping to do some research.
I did find some subs in Amazon.com that offers TWO Pioneers TS-SW251 subs for $159. (I will only need one).
Here's the link. Let me know what you guys think.

Amazon.com: Pioneer TSSW251 800-Watt 10-Inch Shallow Mount Subwoofer - 2 Pack: Automotive Amazon.com: Pioneer TSSW251 800-Watt 10-Inch Shallow Mount Subwoofer - 2 Pack: Automotive

Also, what AMP do you recommend? I want one that can be placed in the headrest compartment, and like I said before, I don't need anything crazy.
Let me know. And if I ask questions that are already in other threads, is because 100 people say 100 different things.

Did you use this wire harness? please check the link below.
Honda/Acura/Suzuki Receiver Wire Harness For select Honda, Acura, and Suzuki models, 1998-up at Crutchfield.com

I just splice all the wires with the same color but the left rear speaker did not work.

That's the standard harness that everyone uses. Did you try reversing the leads? Meaning swap the right for the left and see if the problem stays with the same speaker. If the problem stays with the same speaker then most likely the speaker is bad. If problem switches to the right side then could have a problem with your radio.

Also the aftermarket radio wire colors may not be the same as the harness. You have to double-check the matchup.

All the speakers works fine with the factory stereo, btw I already replace the factory speakers with
Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System
and Polk Audio DB651s Slim-Mount 6.5-Inch Coaxial Speakers and the sound quality is way better than the factory speakers even with the factory stereo.
