Default Ipod and RSE

Currently, I am playing video with WDTV + hard drive connected to RSE of my Pilot.

Wanting to buy a video Ipod to replace them but not sure how it works:

-Connection: can I just use 3.5mm to rca (yellow+red+black) cable connect ipod and RSE?

-How bis is file converted from 5gb iso to mp4 in order to play i ipod?

-For charging ipod, can I buy Ipod's home charger and use the outlet in the Pilot like I am using with WDTV now?

This is what you need to connect to video and audio. It also allows you to charge via your normal charger while plugged into the center console outlet. I was using this in my 06 for the last 3 years and worked perfectly (ipod classic).

Not sure about the file conversion question.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for replying.

I ordered used Ipod 30gb 5th generaion on ebay. It is on the way. And I also ordered this cable. Hopefully, it will work well with Ipod. If not, I only lost 4 bucks.

I tried convert 2hr, 5gb movies last night to mp4. It is about 750mb, not bad. Can't wait to test it out on Pilot.

I would use handbrake to covert the videos. It has presets for each type of iPod, iPhone, and AppleTV. Not sure if the iPod can play a video file that has a higher resolution than the screen. I would give it a try though as your monitor probably has a higher resolution than the video iPod.

Yes, I have been using handbreak to convert the video. The original video file is sd dvd ripped. it was about 5gb. With handbreak, if I don't change anything, it will come out about 750mb. However, there is an option I can set lover mb (did it 500mb) but I don't know what resolution. Still wait for ipod to test it out.

Update:

The cable above I bought can't syn the Ipod. However, it can charge and play video fine. I use it with RES with no problem. Got an AC/usb converter ($4).

I ordered a different cable ($3) from ebay and using for charge and syn at home.

Video files converted from handbreak play fine in Ipod.

Very happy with the purchase.
