Default Upgrading my Sub (Again)

Any input on this sub? I am looking to use the stock location instead of having this box hehind my rear seat. Anything I should consider when installing a sub into the stock location (sealing, depth, etc)?

When I installed my sub into the 2008 stock location I ran several checks that told me it's pretty bad without a lot a damping to stop the resonance and metal vibration at higher sound levels. You won't be able to really seal the chamber so use a sub that will work ok in a (Free Air) type setup.

I used EVA mats and polyfill stuffed in corners to at least reduce the amount of openings in the cavity.

I am planning to do the opposite this spring. I already have a 10" Polk DVC in the stock location but I want to take it out and put it in a box. I had an MTX in there before the Polk and it sounded good with several rolls of dynamat. The problem with the Polk is that the surround touches the plastic panel when it hits the very low notes. I am pushing 300w RMS to it. I never had this problem with the MTX pushing 200w. So I am putting the MTX back there and the Polk will be boxed. 150 - 200 watts is fine for the stock location, if you push it more you will get more rattles and vibrations.

Your info really helped me out during my install.

I love my current MTX setup. I run about 180w RMS and you can always tell when someone has left a empty bottle or can in the back cup holders from the rattle.
