Default 2010 EX-L - which iPod cable?

Hi, we're about to pick up a 2010 EX-L... I'm looking for an iPod cable (that plugs into the bottom of the ipod, as opposed to the headphone jack) that utilizes the aux port in the pilot, and has a 12-v charger. Ideally, it would be a single cable that splits off right at the base to plug into the aux and charging port in the EX-L... any suggestions?

I'm in search of the same solution here vanbo. I bought a 3.5mm male/male headphone type cable from radio shack and was unable to get any sound out of the AUX input located in the console from my iPod. There is no reference in the manual that I could find stating that it requires a honda specific cable to integrate an iPod/MP3 Player for audio purposes only so I'm wondering if I have a dead port or the wrong cable. Did you ever find a solution?

raztazpsk, your cable should work. I use a 3.5mm male/male cable just as you described and it works fine on my two different models of iPods. My cable is a cheap one that came with a clock radio that I bought separately. I suggest trying another identical cable or checking the connections. I assume that you have your radio on the AUX input setting.

I have a separate cable that goes from the bottom of the iPod to the 12V outlet for charging.

A standard male/male cable is all it takes. Try another cable. If that doesn't work, yeah it may be a dead port. Also, as obvious as it sounds, make sure your radio is set to AUX.

Does anyone know if it is possible to convert or replace the aux into usb port? That would make controling the iPhone/iPod alot easier. Or do you really need the nav pack? it's a 2010 EX-L with DVD Entertainment pack.

Thanks!

What you need is an iPod integration adapter. These adapters essentially make the iPod pose as an XM radio. They charge the iPod, allow you to change tracks and modes from your radio (and steering wheel) as well as display the text from the iPod screen up on your radio's display, all while keeping the iPod neatly tucked out of sight.

This is the one that I have:

USA Spec iPod® Interface Connects your iPod to select Honda/Acura factory radios at Crutchfield.com

Do note, however, that this unit had a firmware problem. It has since been resolved by USA SPEC, but it may be some time before that firmware update is applied to retail stock.

Although the unit did work, the text display was flakey. I had to have an updated unit shipped to me. Now it works like a champ.

Looking for a USB interface to attach a jump drive and external hard drive. Couldn't find installation instructions on the above posted link.

There are no aftermarket solutions I'm aware of that will do what you're describing.

Although long and convoluted, this link has pictures detailing stereo removal for the purposes of installing iPod integration:

It looks very much like the unit I installed that was specific to the iPod/iPhone. If that's true, it should be a pretty simple install. One thing I'd research is whether it allows you to keep the XM -- not sure if it's important to you - personally, I could care less about XM and although my adapter can retain it, I have it completely disconnected.

I bought the "Kensington 2-in-1 Charger and Audio Cable for iPhone/iPod, including iPhone 4S" for $26.15 on amazon. Works great. It is a "Y" type cable that has short wires to plug in the charger port and the AUX audio port and a has a longer cable that plugs in the data port of the ipod. Keeps it charged and plays audio at the same time via one cable to the ipod.

Is the 2010 different than the 2011?

I just plugged the white cable that came with my iPod Touch V4 into the USB plug in the console and I can control the ipod's music with the knob, AND my ipod charges while plugged in.

I have 2011 EX-L *with* navigation.

+1

I ordered the "Kensington 2-in-1 Charger and Audio Cable for iPhone/iPod, including iPhone 4S" from amazon after reading this thread and am very happy with my purchase! As many have reported, music/audio sounds much better when connecting via the line out vice the headphone plug.
