Thanks man I appreciate that. Yeah CDT has a lot of 6.5 comps available I was looking at their stuff too, they have a lot of product on woofersetc.com. I think I may need 2ohm comps just to get that extra 15 watts out of my amp instead of replacing it. We'll see.

Default CDT image tweeters install

Well with the system I had and perhaps the music I listen to I was not getting a lot of left/right separation so I talked to my installer and we decided on some CDT image tweeters. These tweeters are not really meant to crank up the treble another notch but to help define left and right separation.

[IMG][/IMG]

Included in the box are the image tweeters, mounting options and two individual crossovers. These guys are pretty small and here they are next to the Polk MM tweeters

Here is a picture of one of the crossovers.

The crossover gives you some flexability as far as sound is concerned. It has a high ,med and low options on the image tweeters. I turned mine down to low as even though in past posts I have stated that I like a bright system....those polks were killing me!!!! DAYUM those things are bright and I had to bring them down a few notches to say the least. ( or maybe I am getting old ?? )

So we took out the A-Pillar interior panel ( well that is what I am calling it anyway ) & drilled the appropriate holes !! Mounted the tweets with the included flush mount and then replaced the a-Pillars

Man I love that flush mount

And here is the installed tweeter !!!

Then we had to take the head unit back out to identify the front speaker wires and install the crossovers. Splice into the wire, test the speakers, reinstall the head unit and then hide the new crossovers.

So it all went pretty well. The CDT image tweeters definitely cleaned up the sound stage and improved a LOT of separation issues. The image tweeters do eat a few watts from the front speakers but not a lot that I can tell. I guess I should have measured first but I am not really a SPL guy so I was hoping that when I got home the wifey would say some of the shrill highness would be gone. My sound stage now hovers just above the dash and I can hear the right tweets just as well as the left.

I am saying mission accomplished there as she said all the shrillness was gone and it sounded like a movie theater !!! I was hoping to hear something more like carnegie hall but neither one of us have been there so I can be happy with the movie theater reference from someone who does not AT ALL understand why I do what I do. LOL

not a huge fan of CDT after installing some of the product years ago. its alright but for the money there is still a ton of options. im stuck on HERTZ at the moment. im in the market being that i have a HUGE amp im either gonna sell or trade for something to go in the pilot. the Memphis audio 2500D mojo is what im trying to trade/barter/sale.MSRP for it new is $1300. so im going for a nice double din or possible a 5 channel amp with some decent power.
im still looking for some sub options. crutch field is soooo limited to me i really just need to take a day and pull a panel off.

Thanks Charly. This system is literally my dream system. I promise you Charly...the CDTs make a HUGE difference in separation and took out a lot of shrillness. I wish you could hear it.
Wasn't hard at all. Took less than 2 minutes to get them both out. This is not a hard upgrade to make. I spent more time debating about whether or not I needed these speakers vs putting them in.

Nice update man and some really good pics. Yeah when upgrading from Polk to CDT, Rainbow, Image Dynamics, Hertz you get a different much better quality tweeter.

This is has been a great thread, as a result I was inspired to rip out my head unit and door speakers.

I am now adding a sub and amp...think you guys might wanna take a look....Kole Audio MFW-10...mounting depth of 3.375in and rms wattage of 400. I've read a few reviews on amazon and sonicelectronix...they are a steal. I mean one look at that 160oz magnet and I was salivating...

If I get some time, I'll post pics.

Hi Carly,

How do you like these tweeters? Was it hard to install? Do you have the model number for them? I would like to install these also.

-Are you using these in addition to the factory tweeters on the front, near the windshield?

Thanks,
-Leo
