With no wires connected to the 40 pin audio connector, the screen powers on and shows up as white sceen.

I tried tapping into RR NTSC for the positve video signal and RR NTSC Ground for negative.

The screen goes black and then no video is seen.

Is this is the correct wire to tap in?

Thanks

Where did you make the tap? On the harness leading to the screen? Also how are you making the tap? The Blue wire (RR NTSC) and Pink wire (RR NTSC Ground) are the right ones. Those are the only video signal wires going into the screen. Just as a FYI, NTSC is the video standard used in the US for DVDs.

At this point I would start from scratch with the OEM radio and DVD player connected and see if you can input video signal (use an iPod or other portable video device to make it easier). If successful, you can start to isolate what makes the screen turn on properly.

I tried making the tap on the harness leading to the screen. (40 pin connector).
Yes, I tried tapping Blue wire (RR NTSC) and Pink wire (RR NTSC Ground).

The screen remained black and did not display anything.

When I connect back the original Audio system, I can see video on the DVD monitor screen!!!!!!

The "Rear" push button in the Audio unit does the trick.
I sends some signal to the rear DVD monitor screen which makes it to display the video output.

Can some one from the forum help me out in understanding which extra wire to tap in for simulating the "Rear" push button functionality to make the DVD monitor screen display the video output.

I tried using RR SYSTEM ACC wire (feeding 12 v or feeding ground), I tried SCTY RR DISP wire (feeding 12 v or feeding ground or feeding video output signal), I tried SCTY DVD wire (feeding video output signal).

None of them seem to make the DVD monitor screen work.

What does that stupid "Rear" push button simulate from an external wiring point of view????

Thanks in advance

Hate to say it but it doesn't look like it's going to work. The audio unit probably has a "protocol" or BUS language that talks to the rear controller - telling it to turn on and off properly based on a video signal either from the DVD player or the AUX input. It's not as simple as applying 12v+ or ground or a combination to various wires. It's similar to how a Pioneer head unit controls a Pioneer cd changer and not an Alpine one. If I were you I would just start looking at an aftermarket replacement that can work with hole cutout and factory mounting points.

Check this out. What a hack. http://www.odyclub.com/forums/showth...threadid=57397

I see a few kits for GM ( http://www.autotoys.com/pics/GMLRSE_instructions.pdf )but nothing for Honda.

Basic info about the Honda BUS signals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEBus

You said "The audio unit probably has a "protocol" or BUS language that talks to the rear controller - telling it to turn on and off properly based on a video signal either from the DVD player or the AUX input."

Great!

Now, the question is can the rear controller be fooled by inducing some signal (BUS protocol) which could be triggered externally?

Thanks

Probably not. You would have to do something like the Ody hack referenced above.
