Default DDX812 install

I plan to install a 2 channel amp to power the stock subwoofer and new center in a 2008 EX. The DDX812 (5.1) will power the stock L/R F/R speakers. Is there a 14pin harness adapter to tap into the OEM B wiring without splicing cables.

No one has a sub adapter cable yet so I'll just tap it.

Where would be a good place to mount a center channel speaker?

You have a few options:

Mount the new radio underneath the HVAC controls (you'll need a custom kit or the HA1703b from Scosche) and then mount a single-din center channel speaker (i.e. Alpine SBS-05DC) in the upper area - use any of the Pilot-specific single din kits.
Alpine, Kenwood and Pioneer make surface mount center channel speakers that you can mount on top of the dash.
Cut a hole in the dash to accomodate a flush-mount speaker (anywhere from 4" to 6.5").
That Alpine center looks sweet. My budget keeps going up.

nsaspook - do you have the DDX812 already? Can you verify whether it has the 13 band EQ that the DNX8120 has. I don't need the nav of the 8120. Already got a KNA-G510 with my current HU. Trying to save some cash but really like the thought of the 13 band EQ.

Been on vacation for the last week. I have the unit and the HD radio ready to install this week. The 13 band EQ is for both units per manual.

Started the install today. Pulled the covers and removed the factory radio/cd. That part went very easy. (only lost 1 clip and 1 screw) Made a wiring harness for the OEM connector and sub/center amp using crimp pins/connectors. With the video and pre-outs there are a lot of cables behind the box but everything moved into place and the new radio bolted up fine after I ground down some alignment bumps on the bracket.

Powered up the system but could not get the HD radio to receive any stations. The antenna adapter RF connector center pin was bent and pushed out the connector when it was mated. Fixed this small problem and bingo, radio now works. Tested the DVD player and two zone operation.

Thats all for today.

Another day of work. Got the AMP power and signal lines connected. I don't have a center speaker yet but the cables are run for it. I have to make a bracket to bolt the AMP to under the seat but for now it's securely fastened to the seat frame.

I pulled all the metal clips from the dash covers for now to make it easy to get back inside when I get a trim plate for the radio hole.

The sound is great without even starting to EQ (Yes 13 bands) the car. The Radio Shack audio meter is great for simple setups.
The bluetooth hands-free is perfect with a moto V195s cell phone

No trim plate yet. (ordered with DEI door locker and Dual Zone Radar Sensor)

Firewall power hole (pass side) ran cable thru the rubber grommet

IPOD/USB cables in glove box
2CH power amp, under seat

Default DDX812 HU

Finally got the trim kit. I used a hot glue gun to attach the trim piece to the dash cover.
