Default LED courtesy light revision 2

Well its been almost 3 years since I tried the LEDs in my pilot and to date, they have worked well. I was curious to see if anyone had tried the new high output festoons in their Pilots?

http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs.../festoonhp.htm

I would think the 3710 3 element would work, for the passenger doors, but has anyone tried the 6 element? they are a different technology so I was curious as to the new color in them also. They now appear to have a color temp of 7000K. They also seem to have a dispersion of only 120 degrees, but it they are angled down that should be fine.

My wife's Ody just lost a 9 element festoon of old and I was thinking of using this excuse to upgrade my Pilot with all new high output models.

2008 seems like a good year to start a whole new thread and see what we come up with as the technology has progressed nicely.

For those of you that have kids, or just like to be prepared for emergencies, I ran across a very cool LED light this holiday season, that is an auto night light, a rechargeable flashlight and it has an auto mode where it switched over to flashlight "auto on" when the power cuts out. They are reasonably priced at various hardware stores, and I am amazed at the quality of these units. Well worth having in various places of your house for those critical moments.

I've had mine since Oct 2005, and haven't had any problems with them. I have the 3022s in the map lights, and I kinda wish they were a little brighter.

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5726

they have 4 element, 6 element and these 10 element, Ill order some and see how they compare, I have lost several of the ones from SuperBrightLed.. these are more in line with OEM bulb prices

I'm running the 4210-WHP6 festoons and they are very bright! Much brighter than the previous festoons. you can actually read at night with these things on. You have to be real careful in installing these as the circuit boards are exposed.

I did have a shipping problem. One came broken and the other 2 didn't match very well in color, one was a different shade from the other. the 4th one started emmitting smoke when it turned on. I called them up and they were aware of the problems. So I returned them and they sent me a replacement set that matched.

It's been a few months and one of them burned out already. They come w/ a 1 year warranty but it's a pain to return 1 bulb. Also, hold on to your paper receipt because they don't really store your purchase history very well. I had to get a salemen to dig mine up for me.

dont know, I just bought a bunch of them and was going to do a write up, I hope they work better, I have not been completely satisfied with Superbrights offering to date, I think I have lost about 4 bulbs (4 bad out of 14 installed) in the past couple of years and I am hoping they are now better and less expensive.

Unfortunately I have no such luck, I have lost more than 8 bulbs and like you I hope the new bulbs will work much better.

I got the new Festoons from Dealexteme.com

These bulbs are better than the superbrightled.com bulbs in EVERY way, the construction is much better, the individual elements are a bit larger and spread out, so they give the appearance of being about 2x as bright and MUCH whiter. Dealextreme is easy to buy from, PayPal and they ship same day direct from Hong Kong. Its about 5-7 days for free USPS to So Cal.

Over all I think I am done with SuperBrightLED.com they are just too expensive and are selling an inferior product. I was bummed when I went to take the old ones out, most of them had several elements that had burned out even though they seemed to be working. I just bought a bunch more of these new units from DealExtreme.com they ship for free, and the bulbs are much, higher quality in both construction and in the quality of the light they put out.

I also bought some really interesting new bulbs for the courtesy sockets in the front doors. http://www.dealextreme.com/photogallery.dx/sku.5178 these little guys are crazy bright and give off no heat at all , even after 20-30 minutes.

Are the festoons for the "chicken bar" lights? It's been over 2 years since I switched the lights in my Pilot, so I don't remember what went where.

If you don't mind, could you give us a list of what you ordered?

Hey Mike,

the 05s can use the 10 element Festoon all the way around, except in the lower door panels, but the map lights between the driver and passenger and all four passengers can use the 5726, the 2 packs are only 5.52 ea and that is to your door, no tax or shipping. the lower doors will take the 5178 4 element bulbs at 3.48 for a 2 pack. I bought 3x of everything as they are so darn inexpensive, Ill just replace them if I need to. the minimun would be 3x of the 5726 ( if you include the overhead map lights on an 05) and 1x of the 5178 for the front door panels.

Shipment # SKU Product or Service Name Quantity Price Shipping
1 5178 4-LED Light Bulbs for Vehicles (2-Pack) x 3 Shipped $3.48 -
5726 10-LED Festoon Bulb (12V 2-Pack) x 3 Shipped $5.52 -

for comparison, the Superbright LED 4410 which is only a 9 element festoon is 4.75 plus shipping EACH so over 2x the cost for a lesser quality product from what I am seeing. The door bulbs at sbled.com are 12.95 each! plus shipping... and that is for a 3 way element, the 2 pack I bought for 3.48 was a nice 4 unit element.

also something I didnt pay attn to, is that they offer bulk discounts and charge a small freight fee, but you have the option of going either way, if one is less expensive for you.

To enable volume discounts on this site, use coupon code: BULKRATE during checkout. You will see a discount applied at the bottom of the shopping cart. Competitive pricing is available. Contact us for details.

Quantity 3+ units 5+ units 10+ units
Rate $4.70 shipped $4.60 shipped $4.50 shipped

Note: BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
