Hi eveybody, today i went ahead and changed the engine oil in our 04 Pilot, kinda soon because it's only got like 3700 Kilometres on it and i didn't want small shavings and other metals to screw the engine up.I did notice that the oil filter from the factory is a lot larger than what that SOB at the Honda parts sold me (he actually told me that all Honda's use the same one...,well not in mine !),it's branded Filtertech Inc 4016 but it's a Honda (it's got this big Honda logo on top side...).For oil i put Mobil 1 0W20 synthetic
.I hope it will help with the gas mileage...a bit .Can somebody explain why Honda went to "dealer" size oil filter ?,the oil filter mount is much bigger than the oil filter itself ,why ?,my next oil filter shopping i will take the original along and buy one based on size,it's my car Honda .Dac |

yep, I changed my oil yesterday as well, after 3000miles. I noticed the FRAM oil filter I was using was a lot smaller than the OEM oil filter... I thought it's because FRAM... Guess even replacement filter from Honda dealer is smaller too..

I compared several brands at the local auto parts store spec'd out for the Pilot and all were the same size, and all were smaller than the original on the car.

Hi everyone, for now i have 2 K&N oil filters for the Pilot and is the same "dealer" size and 3 Amsoil oil filters and they are even smaller than "Dealer Size"...
,once i go thru this oil filters then i'll buy based on the size and i will totally ignore the piuny size they recommend.Of course all filters manufacturers will recomend an alternative to the OEM because that's what they gage them by,so i'd say go out there with your old filter that you car came with from the factory and buy one similar in size, forget puny .Dac |
