Default Floor Jacks

Can anyone recommend a good (and hopefully inexpensive) Craftsman brand floor jack that has a max height high enough for working on a Pilot?

I went to rotate my tires this afternoon and borrowed my father's floor jack and it wouldnt go high enough for me to get a wheel off.

Time to get my own and cash in some of those Sears gift cards!

Can't remember the one that I have, it's at home and I'm at work now (hehehe), but get one that jacks your rig up over 19" and you should be good to go! I use it on my lifted Tacoma and it works fine.... but barely.

I also use this model it works great, just make sure you are using the correct jacking points.

Check out sams club. I was there last week and nearly bought a jack and stands. I don't remember the price but I recall it was quite good.

Default 18.5" is high enough

I got Craftsman aluminum floor jack... see it here! Not inexpensive nor so expensive, just perfect with its max height of 18.5" for the Pilot! My dad just fell for it the moment he saw it in my garage and couldn't resist but to get one for him that same day. Now I envy him 'coz what he actually got was the more expensive 4k lbs capacity alum jack!

You have to move up from the cheap $30 car jack to an SUV/truck jack. Make sure you can can open and close the release valve with a twist of the handle without removing it. I got one at Kragen for $50. My neighbor friend bought a Pilot a month after I did. He called me from his cell phone one day with a flat tire on the other side of town. I threw my floor jack in the car and when I got there I put my full size spare on his car (he still had a donut) and off he went.

I bought the exact same jack myself this weekend and a pair of 6 ton jackstands, I liked the cradle on them better than the 3 ton ones, flatter. Had a couple coupons so got like $21 off the purchase

Default jack location

I'm not much of a motorhead, so forgive me (which makes my father cry, because he drag races), but where do you jack the car with a floor jack when not using the supplied screw jack? In the same spots? I want to do my own oil and tire rotation. Thanks

Tuck and Jack,

I have a monster floor jack, (8000#, 24"+ lift), I place it under the frame rails that run front to back under the Pilot, about 2 feet bepast the front tire. I then jack up the entire side of the Pilot and swap the tires fron to back as long as the tires are wearing evenly. If there is uneven wear I'll do a criss cross rotation, (so far I've had even wear on both Hondas). I rotate tires every oil change and by the time the tires are rotated the oil drain is done. I have a compressor and an impact wrench, but don't use them with the chrome lugs. Even doing the wrenching by hand I can do an oil change, (including filter change) and a tire rotation in under 40 minutes.

Default 2 middle lift points

For the front I used the tow hook located in the middle as shown in the picture w the jack and for the rear I used the flat bar that sort of dividing the rear differential into halves. You might also want to use a piece of wood (4x2) as I did in between the jack’s saddle and the car’s jack up points for protection. One jack stand for each 4-corner jack up points (used when changing flat tire) is the safest to have during DIY tire rotation.

Sears will have the Model No. 50143 extra high-lift 3-ton jack on sale from 11/7-11/14 for $59.99.
It's also a Craftsman Club bonus week, so the net price, after the additional 10% savings, is $53.99.
