42k miles and changed for the first time. The old filter was dirty but seems still ok.

Filter was pretty dirty as most people are saying.

25 minute job with tools in hand.
I never could get the right hand glovebox screw back in. At one point I dropped it and it fell on top of the fusebox, and when trying to retrieve it, it fell behind the fusebox, so it's gone.

Guess I'll go to the Honda place tomorrow to get a new screw. And with my luck, the old screw will short out my fusebox! But at least I did get the filter changed.

Okay - I couldn't let it get the best of me, so I attacked the fusebox and WAS ABLE to get the screw to fall down behind the fusebox so I could fish it out.

Another attempt to get the right hand glovebox screw in was successful! YEAH

Total time: 80 minutes. At 30,700 miles, I used a WIX #24897, $22.99 at O'Reilly's in the Dallas area.

That's the spirit, never surrender! Glad to see I am not the only one that has done that (many times).

I changed the cabin filter today (about 60 minutes) after 14528 miles. I also changed the air filter (about 10 minutes). I changed the oil last week tough. I changed my wife's Sienna oil while I was changing the cabin filter. I trimmed the tree in the back yard (about 60 minutes). Last thing I did was to clean the swimming pool filter (about 45 minutes).

Now I have money to order the 06 tail lights for my 05 EX-L.

I tried to find the DIY for VTM-4 fluid change, but I could not find any thread for that. Does anyone know?

Default Guess I'll go to the Honda place tomorrow to get a new screw

You need to visit Home Depot for the screw.I believe Dealers carry only screws for Tags.

I did mine at 10K, the hardest thing is getting the new VTM fluid into the fill hole.

From the rear of the vehicle, you will see two plugs with a square drive hole in each. The bottom is the drain plug and the top is where you fill it back up. After it drains, put the drain plug back in and fill it from the top hole until it drains out and won't hold anymore.

I had a hard time getting fluid back in there. Then I remembered I had a radio controlled airplane electric fuel pump that I used for gassing up the airplane's fuel tank. It runs on 12 volts, so I spliced on a cigarette lighter plug, ran a tube into the VTM fluid container and one into the fill hole, plugged the pump into the elecrical accessory outlet in the rear of the vehicle, and it filled the differential in a couple of minutes.

The pump it pretty much oil and fuel resistant, and they're about $12-20 for hand crack or electric models.

Not seen a VTM4 fluid bottle. But if its similar to the typical 90wt oil bottle, you can buy hand pumps for that from auto parts stores.

The more I look at the cabin filter thread, the more I am amazed that Honda has actually designed something so basic that is so difficult to change.

I wish honda engineers design it like the '03 accord. You spend 5 minutes tops changing the cabin filter on that one(tool-less DIY).
