Once again thank you for posting the pics and doing the writeup. Took me all of 40 min if even that to replace the filter. fairly dirty after only 15000 miles.

Default Thanks for the info!

I really love good quality site's like HondaPilot.org, if not for this info on changing this cabin air filter I would have been totally lost on this maintenance item. Thanks especially to HondaMan2 and others who made it happen for me. This may have already been mentioned but one thing I can add it is when you get the first four screwws out of the metal bracket you really do not need to pull back the plastic dash piece to get to the last screw. You can just let the right side of the metal bracket drop down and you will have enough room to get the filter out. Thanks again

P.S. I forgot to mention that when I was discussing doing this with my dealer they informed me that if I had a extended warranty it was required to change this filter every 15,000 miles. So if you do it yourself like we have then save your receit. Also, they wanted $90+tax to do it there.

Thumbs up

I'd like to second the thanks. I just did mine at 29,000 miles and it was a breeze with this post. Thanks!

to honor your warranty you need to sign your maintenance record interval in your owners manual. same goes for all services.

Hondaman2, Thanks for the great post. I changed my cabin filter yesterday and your post easily saved me an hour. From start to finish it took 30 minutes, lining up the 2 small screws on the bottom of the glovebox was a pita. You have to do this by feel, I'm a 44L, even with the seat full back I couldn't get under the dash to see the damned holes. It's too bad Honda didn't use the setup they have in the CRV, no tools and you don't pull any trim just 2 clips to drop the glovebox. The V's a quick 5 minute job and the pilot is a good 30 minutes. Thanks again.

I just ordered this special for June..

hondaacuraworld.com/

www.honda-pilot.org June Special

Special maintenance package includes (1) oil filter, (1) air filter, (1) cabin filter, and (1) set of windshield wiper refills. Sale price good through the end of July 2005. $54.99 +$3.5 handling

Looks like I have work to do once it shows up.

It also looks like I should have read the post in hodacuraworld monthly specials before I posted here sorry about the duplicate information. I was overcome with excitement..

First of all, thanks for the instructions...

I'm not a handy person and am far from having a great tool set. Is it necessary to have the 1/4" ratchet and socket? All I have are 3/8" ratchet and sockets.

You can use a 3/8" ratchet and metric sockets.

Be careful not to over torque those small bolts and screws. I used a nut driver rather than a ratchet.

i like to use 1/4 drive because it's small and will fit in small tight places.

I changed my wife's Odyssey this past weekend. It is pretty much identical to the Pilot instructions, including the bar that you have to cut.

The stealer wanted to replace it for me for $92.50. I spent $16 for a Bosch filter, and it only took about 25 minutes for me to complete. It's well worth doing yourself.

The filter had 60k on it. I know, I know. I never realized that they needed replacing on a regular basis, and the stealer didn't point that out at our 30k service.

Well it's done now.
