Looks like a pretty standard Honda disc brakes. Thanks for pics. Btw, anyone know how long the brakes (f and b) are lasting?

My dealer told me that front brake will last about 25K-35K but I am hoping it will last longer than that... My Toyota lasted 95K.
I should depend on your driving habit and pattern...

Driving style/conditions account for the differences in wear. 37K and the originals are doing fine. (wife drives the Pilot)

I don't know what model of Toyota he was refering to, but the brakes on the 4-Runner (that our Pilot replaced) lasted nowhere near 95k; not even half that. And we had a recurring problem with warping on the brakes, too.

For what it's worth I'm in Atlanta and drive 70 miles a day back and forth from work and I have 49k with about another 10k to go.
When time I will put on after market rotors in the front because of the vibration when stopping from 70 mph.

There are many factors in how long brake pads last - I had a race car where they'd last 2 races (which was up from my record 1 race and out pads). The pad wear is a factor of the material the pad is made of, the hardness of the pad, the weight of the vehicle and *very important here* the driving style of the individual.
I'd rather have a soft, not-too-abrasive pad that burns out faster if it gives me good pedal response and really great stopping times. Brake pads are cheap. You can build brakes to last a long time or stop really well, but it's hard to do both (unless the brake system is as big as the wheel ![]() Your rear pads should ALWAYS last longer - most of the vehicle weight will shift to the front on braking, which is why front pads are always larger than rears. An interesting thing I've been seeing is the move toward more balanced braking in euro-vehicles. They change the brake balance more to the rear so the car kind of feels like an anchor was thrown out on heavy braking. Apparently it was done to improve wet/snow braking, but the terrible side effect is the rear pads burn out FAST. They changed the balance without upgrading the rear brake system so more force == more heat == burned pads. |
