REQ: Service Manual Scans of EGR Valve Replacement/Removal Procedure. - Honda Pilot

Howdy! Can someone with the service manual kindly scan and post the relevant pages pertaining to the subject? Oh and as well, if I may, ask to have anything to do with EGR port cleaning instructions scanned and posted as well?

The reason I'm requesting this is because my wife took our Pilot in to get the EGR valve replaced, but she told me that they had the car back to her in less than half an hour after she handed the key over to the service advisor.

This leads me to believe that they only replaced the EGR valve and never took the time to clean the port, especially on the intake manifold side. I'm actually willing to do it.

Somebody, pretty please?

Well, I didn't actually remove the whole intake manifold unit. I chickened out and just removed the top plate. This is the picture of the inside of it. The rightside of this plate is where most of the caked carbon build up was, as mentioned in this post.

It's already black, even though I had cleaned it well. Is this a normal or should the whole inside have the clean look?

This is the view of the top portion of the intake manifold with the plate removed. I wanted to unmount this unit off to get access to the EGR port that was clogged up badly. I'm supposed to remove those bolts, and also unscrew some other bolts at the throttle body intake, but like I said, I just chickened out. I'll get to it one of these days and post some pics.

RipRocK - Since you remove the upper cover of the Intake Manifold, make sure to replace the gasket and to tighten the bolts and nuts sequentially in two or three steps. The torque on the bolts for the cover of the Intake manifold is (12N-m (1.2kgf-m, 8.7lbs-ft) for 6 x 1.0 mm bolts.

john! Thanks for taking the time to scan another set of pages for me. If I can't convince my servicing dealer to properly clean the EGR port, after all, they were supposed to do it

and mostly likely I won't be able to, then I'll tackle it and report back. Thanks again!
