Question 5.1 Quarts of Oil

Okay, this may sound like a dumb question but how do you figure out how much oil is sufficient to cover the .1 after you poured 5 quarts of oil into the engine? The owner's manual says the engine needs 5.1 quarts.

Don't sweat the .1---I use 5 even and have had no problems.

That's 6 1/2 tablespoons of additional oil. I figure I leave in at least that amount when I drain the oil pan.

Very often, there is a guage on the side of the oil bottle that is translucent so you can see how much oil is left in the bottle.

We're talking 6 tablespoons of oil in a total capacity of 326 tablespoons. I don't think your engine is going to miss it.
