I just had a oil change on my Pilot and the dealer told me that the next service is the 30,000 mile check up. They gave me a complete print out of what is involved (oil change and mostly inspections, filters etc) and I was surprised to see the cost is $410.00 Is that normal? Should I check other service centers? I'm not interested in doing the work myself.
Thanks for any comments. |

The labor on the cabin air fliter could be part of the cost, but most of it is probably the "inspections". It is up to you if you want to look things over if you know what to look for.

I have reached the 31,000 mark and I called the dealer that usually does the work on my PILOT... but their price for the 30k service was $359.00.
But, there's a new dealership closer to my house that just opened and they do the 30k service for $289.00. But, the price will be a little lower (probably by 40-dollars) because I don't need to have my tires rotated and balanced... 'cuz the guys over at Big O take care of that for me.

With the xx,000 mile service packages, ALWAYS ask what they are doing. since these packages are usually made up by the dealer they can be quite different.

I was a service adviser at a Honda dealership for 4 years. Our 30k, 60k and 90k was the same for EACH vehicle. I would definitely advise you to find out exactly what is being done. When I left (about 3 years ago) we were NOT doing anything for rear diff. fluid. The biggest gripe at going to a Honda is there were 3 different stories as to what to do:
1) tech's saying do this 2) owner's manual saying do this 3) sales person telling his/her customer to do this that's why I ask so many basic questions here. I still haven't decided when i am going to change the oil on my Pilot, what weight to use and how often. Are the services that a dealership do worth the money. Not usually unless one of them finds something that is covered under warranty during an inspection. Plus having service records from a dealership helps a lot when trying to sell the vehicle. Me, I will have my vehicle serviced every 7,500 miles using synth at the dealer (since I worked their I trust those guys) but I am still debating on changing the oil at the 3750 mark. ---edwelly |
