Default Trouble Code P2086

I have my check engine light on, and my handy little Car Chip says that its a Trouble Code P2086. It gives a brief description and some various engine data:

Description: Unknown Powertrain DTC (SAE Controlled; Fuel and Air Metering and Auxiliary Emission Controls)

Engine Status:
Intake Manifold Pressure (Absolute): 4.9psi
Engine Coolant Temperature: 183.2 degrees F
Calculated Load Value: 33.7%
Engine Speed: 3 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 0 MPH

Fuel Trim Status
Short-Term Fuel Trim (Bank 1): -11.72%
Long-Term Fuel Trim (Bank 1): -2.34%

Fuel System Status
Fuel System 1 Status: Closed loop; using oxygen sensor(s) as feedback for fuel control.

Can anyone with a shop manual or mechanic status give me any more insight to this code? I'm going to take it in next week, but I want to know what to expect.

BTW, I called to get the recall work done at my local Honda dealer, and they said its a two week wait. Nope.

Where would someone with a Service Manual look. There's nothing in the index about OBD codes, troubleshooting codes, etc.

I looked at all of the DTC Troubleshooting Codes in my Service Manual & didn't find P2086. Sorry!

My guess would be Mass airflow sensor or o2 sensor! But that is only based on similar wording in VW trouble codes not any Honda knowledge!

Ferdball: I've looked in the following DTC Troubleshooting Indexes from the Service Manual:
  1. A/C page 21-9
  2. ABS/TCS Components page 19-38
  3. Automatic Climate Control page 21-74
  4. Automatic Transaxle page 14-7
  5. Fuel and Emissions page 11-6
  6. SRS page 23-32
  7. VTM-4 System page 15-10
and was unable to locate code P2086 anywhere -- sorry...

My guess:

P2086
Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit
Range/Performance (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

from here: http://www.actron.com/obdii_code.pdf (via Google)

The service manual doesn't list such a code anywhere.

The wife went with a friend for a day of shopping (she doesn't have a job!!!). They came right back after noticing a strange noise. It's definitely going in tomorrow. Papa's MDX makes a good standby vehicle.

The description from the Car Chip and the link from TheWorm point to an emissions issues. Maybe this will solve my 15.6 MPH gas mileage situation.

Story at 11. Stay tuned.

The light on the dash and the code posted earlier was from someone leaving the gas cap off. Since I don't drive the Pilot much any more, I'll leave it up to you to figure it out (it was the WIFE!). So, no help with the mileage issue.

About the vibration, they said that there were bald spots on the tires and that maybe I made some hard stops. Apparently, I know how to circumvent the Anti-lock braking system and went willy-nilly with some power slides. And that these 'flat spots' seem to resonate at such a rate that I only feel them above 70 MPH. Hmmm... seems reasonable, if you're a Service Advisor!

Anyway, I got the recall work done ahead of schedule. The cap was replaced for free.

Look on the bright side, Ferdball... leaving the gas cap off is minor -- at least your wife didn't do something like this!!!

Yes, but I have about 14,000 miles on them. Some poeple have the same vibration with the Michelin tires.
