Default High speed balancing

I just got new 18" wheels and tires...and had a slight vibration problem between 65 and 80. I took my Pilot to a shop that had a Hunter 9700 and that helped a little, but there's still a slight vibration. This same shop also tried to do a high speed balance where they actually spin the tires while still on the car, but they couldn't do it because they said the Pilot has full-time four wheel drive. So, my question is, anyone know how to disengauge this. I know there isn't a switch, but is there anything I can do to get the tires to spin freely so I can get my cool new wheels and tires properly balanced?

It's not in 4wd when the key is off. I've turned my wheels by hand while it was jacked up. There is some resistance in the front when you turn them manually since you're turning components of the transaxle.

The shop may not want to risk it since it's AWD/4WD.

Good luck with those new wheels!

If I'm not mistaken, the downside of this type of wheel balancing is that you are compensating for components other than the wheels/tires. This is okay UNTIL you rotate, then your problems are usually worse than before (unless you have everything re-balanced again $$$).

I would suggest sticking with "off the vehicle" balancing.

Good luck!
