Post FYI: Service record ... after almost 32,000 miles

Updated posting on Sep 18, 2003 ... 51,096 Km.

Just clicked 51,096 km (31,935 miles) and counting...

No mechanical or electrical problems at all so far. Runs as smoothly as the first day I got it.

I picked up the Pilot on Jun 5, 2002. Here're my service records. All cost in CAD$ including taxes. The equivalent of Type 1 is A, Type 2 is A+B, Type 3 is A+B+C and Type 4 is A+B+C+D in the owner's manual. I follow the Canadian schedule which is equivalent to severe maintenance schedule in the owner's manual.

All service done at Honda dealer (Mississauga Honda) where I bought the Pilot, except 30,000 km service oil change at local Mr. Lube, only because I couldn't get an appointment at dealer. I wasn't happy with Mr. Lube because the guy removed the air cleaner cover (despite my instruction not to do anything except oil & filter change) and didn't put it back properly (he obviously didn't know how). My beef was he left it loose rather than asked his colleagues for help. I brought it back the next day when I realized the problem, and the manager corrected the problem. Notice it actually costs more than what the dealer charges for oil change. I'm satisfied with the Honda dealer's Service Dept and won't go anywhere else from now on.

bkwon, I noticed that your dealer changed the VTM-4 fluid at every 12,000KM, whereas my dealer looks as though they're going to change mine for the first time when I go in for the 24,000KM scheduled service. I should've been more attentive with the things they did on myh car in the past, then I would've requested to have the VTM-4 fluid replaced at 12,000KM.

I hope my VTM-4 box isn't too gunked up in there right now. I've been told that changing at 24,000KM is quite alright, but I wonder why my dealer decided the first VTM-4 fluid change is alright at 24K, and not 12K, especially when we live up here. Anyway, thanks for the info.

Not really. The service records look that way, but actually, it was my decision to follow Honda's official Canadian maintenance schedule, which recommended replacing VTM-4 fluid at 12K and 24K, and then every 24K thereafter. So, my next VTM-4 replacement is at 48K (not too far away!). When I went in for the 12K service, the service guy didn't think it was necessary to replace the VTM-4 fluid, just like you were advised the same. But I decided to follow Honda's official recommendation. It costed me an extra CAD$75 then.
