Does anyone know if those fluids are within spec of the OEM lubes that Honda uses? According to my research, Mobil1 ATF (http://www.mobil1.com/products/atf.jsp) meets or exceeds the DEXRON III requirement that Honda specifies. Also, what I found is that Mobil1 ATF has a lower pour point at -55F. My dealer thinks the OEM ATF is at -45C (-49F). I plead ignorance when it comes to these things, so, I don't know if ATF has different grades as the engine oil does and whether Mobil1 makes ATF suited for the Pilot.
Also, does the Pilot ever need to get its gear lubricant (http://www.mobil1.com/products/gear.jsp) replaced or inspected? I was thinking of using Mobil1's too. I figured, if it's "Indy-500 certified", it's good enough for my Pilot ![]() Anyone ever use these products and had any problems at all? Somebody at my work told me that Mobil1's ATF might just be too thin and might run into some leaking problem down the road. TIA. |

No gear lube on the Pilot.
M1's tranny fluid is NOT appropriate for the Pilot. Honda mentions repeatedly and in several places that Honda's ATF Z1 fluid is the *only* suitable one. No one I'm aware of is using an alternative (either here or on the X board). No 3rd parties that I'm aware of make a "Honda-certified" ATF. You can do a search on the X board for some discussion on the issue. |
