So I was thinking of replacing the brake fluid on my wife's pilot. For my car, I have the motive power bleeder with a screw on cap made for european cars.
For the honda, they make some goofy chain-link contraption that I've used on other cars before - it doesn't work. I was considering purchasing a spare brake fluid reservoir cap then drilling and tapping it for an air compressor fitting and bleed the fluid that way. I don't have the honda in front of me to check, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has tried something like this before. |

The cap breaths, but maybe through a hole you would drill out for the fitting.
I am not sure if it breaths around the edges.

Just a quick update - I took the brake fluid cap off this weekend to take a look at it. It has a screw on mechanism with a rubber o-ring around the perimeter, so I'm optimistic that this will work. Unfortanately, couldn't find a cap at the auto parts store so I'm going to have to order one or pick up one from the dealer. Will let you know how it works out.

The OEM cap is two pieces. The grey outer cap that twists on, and the white inner cap with o-ring and level sensor built in. Air can be drawn into the reservoir from between the two. The rubber o-ring is just their to prevent spillage.
