Default 109K, Timing Belt, Tires, Spark Plugs

2005 Honda Pilot EX-L 6cyl

I had a brake job done where they need to replace the front rotors.
And the Rear Brakes were resurfaced.

After the brake job the entire SUV would rattle at 60 to 75mph.
I think they rotated the tires incorrectly,
after driving about 200 miles It would shake less.
The tires were old and needed to be replaced.
And now their was a shimmy at 60 to 75 mph

I replaced all four of the tires with Michelin LTX M/S 2 and did a 4 wheel alignment. The new tires and alinment fixed the shimmy at 60 - 75 mph.

Tires cost like $170 each with the TP kit. If you have TPS, Tire Pressure Sensor, make sure they install the kit when you change the tires.

Now my Pilot has 109,000 miles so I dropped it off for major service
Timing Belt
Hydraulic tensioner
TB Adjuster
Idler pulley
Front Camshaft and Crankshaft Seals
Alternator/Compressor belt
Power steering belt
Water Pump

Replace Radiator with new one
Replace Radiator Hoses
Due to issues with radiator flush chemicals damaging radiator and possibility of transmission failure from leaking radiator fluid in transmission oil cooler. I replaced the radiator. Its about $300 for insurance against future failure

NGK Iridium XI Spark Plugs, I compared all the plugs, thesse are the best

Here is a sample of prices for timing belt kits I found on internet

Timing Belt Kit Honda Pilot 2005 to 2008 $341.00
Includes: timing belt, timing belt tension adjuster, timing belt tensioner, water pump with gasket, timing belt idler, one accessory drive belt, two front camshaft seals, front crankshaft seal

I have seen kits without the water pump for $200.00. And kits with just timing belt idler and belt for $100.00

Dood! The only timing belt kit worth buying is the Gates TCKWP. It includes:

- Timing belt (gates/Unitta makes Hondas timing belts)
- idler pulley (OEM Koyo bearing)
- tensioner pulley (OEM Koyo bearing)
- hydraulic tensioner (OEM)
- Water pump (Gates brand aftermarket)

For my 04, the kit cost $140 ($168 for 05-08) + $9 shipping on rock-auto.com. You can even get 5% off coupon codes for that site as well. Gates also sells the AC/Alt & PS belts for a bit less than OEM too.

05-08 Pilot kit is TCKWP329
