I'm sorry everyone. I'm sure this has been covered. Trust me I've searched, but there are just so many threads that it's hard to find what I'm looking for....
I have a 2007 Pilot. It runs fine, but I just hit 105K. I drive about 600 miles every week, and think it's time to start doing some preventative maintenance. I've done no major work to it since I bought it 2 years ago. I'm thinking I need to do: Timing Belt Tensioner Idle Pulley Water Pump What else? I've read about cam seals, and some other type of pulley as well. I'm not good with cars, I just drive them. I'm looking for an update to the above list of what else I should be changing. Also, what sites do you guys recommend for parts? I tried hondaacuraworld which I've ordered from before but looks like the site isn't up anymore. Anything else I should do? Tranny flush? Differential (not even sure what that is to be honest).... I plan on keeping this car until death do us part. |

Get yourself a Gates TCKWP kit (timing belt & water pump) from rock auto. It's way cheaper than OEM, but includes all OEM parts (Gates/Unitta make the Honda belts) except for a Gates brand water pump (instead of Honda/Yamada). This easily saves about $150 or more in parts cost. The TCKWP kit includes:
- timing belt - idler pulley - tensioner pulley - hydraulic tensioner - water pump You should also replace the following since you will be removing them for the job: - 2 gallons of Honda blue coolant - Power steering belt - A/C-Alternator belt. And if you haven't done so in a long time, replace your fluids (oil, filter, trans, rear diff, brake, power steering) and spark plugs (get the OEM plugs from any autoparts store). You don't have to do all the fluids at once. And don't worry about cam seals and thermostats. They don't really "wear". They either work or they fail. New ones are just as risky. I'm not being a smart-ass, but why not follow the Honda-provided service intervals in the owner's manual? Other than those, you just need to address wear items like brakes as they're needed.

I puzzle why some people say they can't be bothered to read some great threads on TB changes that contain all they need to know.
Then go and start a new thread.
